a heavy-ish frame so it doesn't flip onto it's front when you fire it
an arm with some kind of hinge/swivel at one end for rotation (this is the bit that throws stuff)
at least one spring attaching throwing arm to the frame to rotate the throwing arm
a little bit of creativity & patience
give us a screenshot of where you're at & we'll try help develop/tweak any original ideas you have.
Also, have a dig through the 'share your creation' thread & copy take inspiration from some of them - there's a few wild things in there tho....

ok, so ignore the wagon & crane on the back... but you can see how the front end works.
arm + support + spring makes like a triangle, the spring pulls the arm up to the supports taking it from __| to \| & projectile goes ---->
It seems others have built more of a seesaw type with a spring that pulls down one end of the arm
I try putting another screen on the other side, but it contracts at the same time as the front one. And if I try to put down the holder and ball vertically on the thing,it just falls out immediately. How can I improve?
firstly you may need to build your 'arm' horizontally, & rebind your keys for one of the springs (use the little wrench icon?)
give me a half hour 10 mins or so & i'll come back with a couple of screenshots for ya.

I didn't throw any projectiles, I'll leave that part of R&D to you :)
helpful?
grabbers (press V to release) can pickup and throw objects.
