Support for 1280x1024 Monitor?
I own a 1280x1024 resolution (5:4 aspect ratio) monitor. I know the monitor is old, but I also know I'm not the only person who still uses these. There are still quite a few people around who use them. Before I buy the game, I wanted to ask what sort of support the game has for a 1280x1024 resolution monitor.

1st) Does the game run in fullscreen with NO black bars on top and bottom at 1280x1024 resolution?

2nd) Does the game run in fullscreen with black bars on top and bottom of the screen at 1280x1024 resolution?

3rd) Last possibility: Does the game have no support at all for this resolution, and it is impossible to play the game if you own this monitor? I own 1300 games, and I only discovered 1 game so far that fit into category 3 so far. Almost all games, including modern ones support this resolution in some form usually.

Could a player who owns a monitor with this resolution answer the question, or could a developer answer if no player is available to respond.

Thanks in advance

The game supports 15 or so resolutions when I look at mine. It also has an auto that uses the resolution you have as the default on your system, so it shouldn't be an issue to play it.

When I look at the screenshots on the store page for this game, I see a screenshot with editing tools where the tools go across from one side to the other of a widescreen display and that screenshot might NOT fit on a 5:4 aspect resolution. There was another game called Sentinel, where it just cropped the sides of the screen if you didn't have widescreen and you couldn't see anything that was in the game on the sides of the screen on a 5:4 aspect monitor. That game was unplayable on my monitor because of the "missing" parts of the game. Aerena, which is playable on my monitor, also slightly crops the sides of the screen that don't fit, but your able to see enough to play.

As I described above, just because it defaults to your current resolution is meaningless. I need to know from someone who uses a 5:4 aspect monitor whether it works or not, or from a developer of the game.

It works fine, toolbars and all. I don't know why you thought it couldn't fit...

Thanks for verifying that it works, Xjph :) I now know I can buy the game. Thanks a lot :)

I thought it couldn't fit, because it looked like a widescreen screenshot on the store page. And some crappy programmed games will crop the sides of the screen. But most games don't do that. I was hoping this was one of those games that didn't do it, and thanks for verifying it for me.

Tried to tell you that, that's why I said it supported so many resolutions and had the auto fit default... LOL

Joreel,

I'm very literal minded. I didn't mean to be disrespectful when I responded to you before or when I'm responding now. You originally said that it defaults to your current resolution. You didn't say anything about it auto fitting in your original post. The games that I played where it cropped to the sides of the screen, also defaulted to your current resolution. Thats why I responded the way I did, being literal minded. Anyways. I'm just happy that the game does work on my monitor. I'm waiting until I can upgrade my video card too, before finally getting a widescreen monitor, and that won't be for a few years more.
