The reviews confuse me a little.
Okay, so the game looks good, the reviews are whopping 98% positive, and now there are enough of them to go by and include some newcomers as well, but one thing bugs me.
Why do people that are 100% backing this game and recommending and praising it left and right only play few minutes of it? I think the max I saw on the reviews was 5 hours.

I know a lot of these people have played more hours before the launch on Steam, but still, I'd imagine some if not most would still be actively playing it, or some new Steam user would have played it over the weekend to rack up 10hrs+

Am I missing something, or is this the most brilliant game but something prevents people from playing?

I just came here looking at this game and this is what popped out in my head. The positive reviews are insanely more than the negative, yet nobody has played it much. Also, the few negative reviews just got hammered with rude and insulting comments. Hell, one goes on for like 7 pages. Wtf.. Something just doesn't smell right with the reviews on this game.

For the prize of the game the reviews aren't lying. The game runs good and is very stable, it's fun and even with the limited content there is atm you can still spend a good load of hours in it. I bought it yesterday only and i am a newcomer to the game itself but not at all to the physics/sandox genre. And i must say this i far better than pretty much any other physics game i have played considering its so early in the development phase.

Well I'm not saying it's rigged or something but I assume that the game either crashes or is mighty boring. This supports it well:
http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198023659375/recommended/346010/
And then the fans jump to the games defense
"It's early access"
"It's the price of a McDonalds"
"I played 5 hours"

Like yeah... They're trying to make it sound good but good games don't need to be justified or evaluated on a value per money basis...
If it's not something I'll get hooked into, I don't really want to even try it.
But the game does look interesting.

Oh Tommy, you're the guy I was looking for all along! You've 16 hours on it. That's a fair bit. You find it good then, huh?

Well right now he's playing a different game, Hunter the Primal, so that should tell you.

I get your point and you are totally right.
But in their defense i saw the game and thought, looks cool, probably cost ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like everything else. But then i saw the the price and i simply thought to myself "Well ♥♥♥♥, i can earn this by working for one hour, so why not give it a try" ^^ And the price vs content balance is something that is usually commented for every other game so why not this? I mean, honestly, i'm suprised how cheap a game with almost unlimited content could become.

It's not a game you will play five hours a day like, i don't know, counter-strike or battlefield or CoD. It's something you'll probably end up playing three or four times a week for a couple of hours, it's a lovely game for the creative and innovative mind!
Cat Feb 1, 2015 @ 12:24pm
That doesn't matter :P
Even when playing the best of games, I still mix it up.
I think I might try this sometime this week, if I find the time.

Yeah I agree with all that you said but you know, when a game is great the question "is it worth it" is even stupid to ask, and people will reply along the lines of "Yeah!" or go on about what they love in the game. But here all I see is "It's only worth it because it's cheap"

- I played it a fair bit already yes, and i honestly love it so far!

What kind of argument are you trying to pull here mate? Primal i can play with mates since its an online game where as Besieged is not.. I played besieged most of the night and morning when i had no mates online and now that i do i went back to primal for some time, doesn't at all mean i don't like the game. xD

I haven't read alot of the reviews but let me tell you what i like about the game.

For one i being able so sit for myself sometimes and chill, not having to talk to anyone or think about anything.
I also love building stuff but damn, i'm too lazy to do it in real life so why not do it in a game?
I like being creative and trying out new designs and mechanichs.
Once in a while playing action games/shooters/mmo's can get very stressfull, hell, even a day at work or in school can be stressing.

This game allows me to all this stuff and isn't stressing me out any point, everything is so peacefull (Until you unleash hell on some castle or a sheep). And i'm sure i'll be playing it a couple of times a week just like i wrote before ^^

I bought this yesterday and was tempted to write a positive review for it right away I was so blown away by it. I have been burned, like others, by early access games in the past but I decided to give this a shot because the in-game footage in the promo vids looked elegant and it looked like this would actually be a game that performs on my older machine given the system spec requirements. It is a chillout sort of "mix it up" (as a previous poster said) sort of game so I am unlikely to plow hundreds of hours into this, but it is fun and definitely worth the price. Given the build status of the game it certainly promises a lot more content in the future.

edit: I take it back I've already dumped all of my gaming hours this weekend into this game

Well there are only 15 levels at the moment so of course it becomes boring after 10 - 20 + hours but they said that they will add lots of updates so it wont become boring. :D

What sold me was the incredible design. I'm a minimalist in mind and when I saw the screenshots I thought it was just for some promo video they had made, but that's how it actually plays. Granted, there's not much content, and if you don't enjoy sandboxing and just building silly contraptions you're going to play it through in a few hours.

It's not going to be a game for everyone. But if you like games like Bridge Constructor and playing with red stone contraptions in Minecraft, this is well worth the money. It does favor people with mechanical engineering skills and interests. It's not a game that's going to play itself. You have to think a lot outside of the box to come up with suitable siege engines to handle different situations.

Personally, I just built a triple catapult with double frontal kamikaze bombs to take out the final stage. You don't have to actually survive to win. :)

One thing to note, according to the notes on the store page, the devs has a low cost now, because there isn't much content, but as more content get added they are going to raise the price. So early adopters will benefit from buying it now instead of later.

It's well made and has potential to become a good game, but there's only a handful of levels that probably only take an hour to beat. Probably less if you rush through them.

Would have given it a negative review, if I had my steam key yet, because the price of the game simply doesn't reflect how little content is on offer.
You're basically paying money for a tech demo. A good tech demo, but nothing that should be sold as a game.

To you it might not be a game yet. To me it's already a game with loads of content, i spent about four hours making this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFvxed2yPOk
and i still have loads of ideas of how to change it and adjust it to make better in flight. I actually enjoy sitting around doing pointless stuff and this is probably some of the coolest pointless stuff i have come by to date. I'd say try http://www.algodoo.com/ which is free. If you like sitting there making weird pointless stuff and experimenting with the physics then i'm sure you will enjoy this game!
