Disappointed
This game is just like Nascar 13...nothing new for me. Car crashes that should cause a yellow or red flag...DON'T. And cars that flip 100 times only have a dent in the bumper?? Dynamics, particles, physics.... not realistic. A nascar game should be realistic OR be an arcade game. This one is right in the middle....which is actually a bad thing.

Originally built for XB360 and ported to PS3 (& WII for ’11), the only major change I remember with their game engine was between ’11 to Inside line. ’13 was an PC exclusive port with upgraded graphics. ’14 offered full support for the gen6 cars (paint shop & SP career) and updated paint schemes +extra sim features.

The beginning of the end was the first day patch for on-line ’14 that caused the game breaking bugs; audio dropout for PS3 and the suggested race line (not needed for anyone on an oval track, but demanded by the publisher) for the Richmond track which became defective when the track was re-rendered. Seems like the dev forgot it was there –the patch turned it into a bug that would toss you to the pits if you crossed it near pit entrance. ETX-NTG was a small studio and let most of the dev’s go before ’14 release, as most of the planed DLC (car paint schemes that had not been revealed by NASCAR yet) was to be outsourced to another studio in Japan or somewhere. Thinking they were done & working on a tight budget, it was time to cut cost.

Anyhow, the console players spammed their web site demanding a hot patch that could not happen for PS & Xbox, as they already used their 1 allowed hot patch and it would take months for the next one to be processed. The publisher would not allow a PC patch only, all platforms had to be patched at the same time. With too much time on their hands, these players started to complain about the sim features being bugs because they did not understand them, no user guide was ever written by the studio other than the first one for ‘11.

Adding wheel spin to starts/restarts required throttle control, messing up you start would cause the AI field to crash into you or they would stack up and find a way around your car, forcing them to go three or four wide on short tracks. Live or changing track temperatures between track testing, practice, qualifying and race will cause your car to handle differently. Track temp used to be on the HUD before ’14 & temps will change during a race if you go long enough. They would claim this as a bug and backed up their theory because the setup numbers would be different on a pit stop (hot tires) from the garage numbers (cold tires). They could not understand PSI would increase with tire temps which will increase tire diameter and also change the wedge numbers (% of weight not turns on a bolt) on a vehicle with stagger built into the suspension and tire sizes.

Anyone that tried to explain these issues was trolled off the forum. NTG would not play like NFS, therefore is must be broken. The moderators on their site (working for free) were of no help at the time. Seemed like they did not understand the sim features either, one of them was adding fuel to the fire with his own comments. It was like watching a train wreck in slow motion with tanker cars waiting to explode. With their budget already spent, bills to be paid, and projected sales dropping like a rock from these postings on their web site turning away potential buyers, the studio collapsed.

A new company ‘DMR’ was formed by one of their PR employees, Ed Martin, and bought the NTG title from ETX. They released ’15 which has only upgraded paint schemes to fill our time & pay some bills, with the upcoming all new (?) ’16 to be the game we have been looking for. Ed’s history goes back to the 1st NASCAR PC game ever made and others. His partner Tom Dusenberry, also has a great history in NASCAR games and other well-known titles. If anyone could build a good NASCAR title, these guys should be able to get the job done.

Let’s hope that they make it more sim or start a needed trend for all racing studios to offer a ‘PRO’ version for PC. Studios should build a game as sim on PC (title name-Pro) making it as real as they are capable of for the hardcore gamers. Then they can remove some of the sim features if needed and add arcade assets and bugs for the casual gamers, selling it as the standard version with ports to consoles.

i have 1200 hrs in this game and we know... an waiting for new...
we all went ARCA sim.2008... old game that werks... Bugs in Nascar suck
