Need advice
I'm a totall newbie at NASCAR in general. I have never had the chance to watch any on TV because i live in the UK and i have never played a NASCAR game before this.
I'm fairly experienced at driving games so im confident i can race well with the assists off, which i do.
My only problem i am having is that the other cars can seem really aggressive, i can be driving careully through a race only to have another car just bash me off the track. Also it can take me many attemps to start a race confidently without being thrown off the track.
Can anybody offer me any tips to help me avoid this? should i race high or low? literally any advice would be great.
Thank you.

Are you getting ran off the track while playing multiplayer? If that is the case that is the nature of the beast. A lot of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ can't drive and run people over for no other reason then they think they can drive. If you actually run good then I can get you with a group of individuals that race nightly that don't tolerate that ♥♥♥♥. As far as racing high or low, that is a matter of driving style. Some can run the high line and some can run the low line it all depends on what your comfortable with.

1. You can watch whole races on the nascar channel on youtube.
2. The driving concept is different from other series, so it can be confusing first. You should imagine that in corners there are lines, at least two, sometimes three. When you take a line (for instance the inside line) you shouldnt change the line during the corner. Also: dont drive in a position, where the line isnt clear. Otherwise the car behind you may hit you in the attempt to get this line.
On most tracks the inside line in corners is better
3. just be suttle and patient. try to drive as smooth as possible. always when you hear your tires, you overdo it. also break smooth.
4. always try to use slipstream.
5. The start can be annoying. just try to stay on your line and dont be aggressive til the race is settled.
6. dont be angry if somebody overtakes you. often you can use his slipstream on the next straight.

And: normally I also drive with assists off, but:
- I would turn starting assist on (cause its almost uncontollable, when it throws you in control
- and to learn it its also no shame to learn it to use a few of the assist stars^^.

Good point about the starting assist! I tried easing on the throttle but i havent mastered that yet. I turned that on as well as automatic gears, but my gears where automatic from the start.
I tried a few races with the spin control option (or whatever it's called) set all the way up but i find that would possibly slow my lap times slightly, the only reason i turned it on was to combat the bumps i recieve off the other drivers so i dont lose control so easily.
I have my difficulty set to 40% for the career mode, i manage to come first in qualifying most the time but have only managed to win the first race which i think is Daytona speedway?
Will i start to win more easily once i buy more upgrades in the R&D?
I think my main problem is line changing, i take my corners outside to inside like Forza for example, thats where i collide mostly. i can be quite greedy. i guess i should stick to the outside or inside all the way through until i brake away from the pack?
I will watch a NASCAR race tonight on my tablet then, it looks really fun to watch. It's a shame i cant go and see one live in person since i live in the UK.

wheel or pad ? keep assist off , feather the throtle on restarts, the high line works best on most tracks , try to stay on the green line as much as you can , practice practice and more practice then play online with real people as the A I cars sucks

I use an Xbox One controller, i will use the green line to practise i guess but i find i depend on it too much otherwise.

You need car setups to play efficiently, even in singleplayer or they will run over you more and more! Have to be able to start a race without tire spin too. A.I Sux in this Nascar game anyway. Default setups work but you won't be able to keep up in multiplayer.
