The Tower on the way to the last boss
I don't know what the hell happened here. Did you let an intern design this? Whoever did it, and whoever approved it, fire them. Worst decision I've seen in a game in recent memory.

Jump too high? Die.
Jump too low? Die.
Jump too late, too early, wrong arc? Die.

If the rest of the game required skills like this, at this level, it wouldn't be an issue. But this is like a brick wall considering the rest of the game. I blew 2 complete potions in that tower, dying nearly 35 times per potion. So I died 90 times between those 6 rooms. And you can't really progress, because every single mistake sends you back to the start of a room. I very nearly quit the game and swore off the others.

There's only ONE region that has really clutch platforming, really. I know it's annoying, but to be honest there's a post about someone SCREECHING about this every two weeks to 1 month.

Wanna skip it? You actually can. There's a glitch involving the cap's little extra vertical movement on activation, and the fact that it's cancellable with the cannon extra-jumps.
Just time it well enough, you can skip any floor.

Else, i'm going to have to pull out the "git gud" card. But not as rude. Honestly just keep trying, get some practice on it, don't be bold, don't panic, plan your approaches out...

But yeah, the lack of safe-spots inbetween some of those platforming challenges, make them ridiculous.

Edit; i just remembered the wind section. That one's annoying too. Remember how the hat parachute has some activation time, and really, take your time. Singleplayer games are supposed NOT to make people angry as easily, as compared to multiplayer ones that can get really stupid when trying to account for someone else's decisions.

I was using a controller. I did win in the end, but the last boss was simple and easy compared to the cannon jump room and the shinespark room. Well, except for the bouncing cannonball attack he had. I never did figure out how to dodge that, so I just ate it.

Like I said, if the rest of the game required skills of this level or if the game steadily lead you up to this point it would be ok. But it doesn't. The rest of the game is pretty easy, and then you get a brick in the face.

The comic is only funny because it's true, and the difficulty is only bad because it's out of proportion.

The safe spots in the cannons have an easy pattern, though it gets a complex turn on the true-ending third phase.

Just noting in case you want the no-damage achievement.

It's a test of all your skills. It pissed me off though.

Don't forget to save you game everytime you're in the tower interior, and to go back a screen to refresh the jars and get a heart when you're on the second trial before you connect to the tower

Someone never played a platformer in the nes / snes era

What a nonsense thing to say. Platformers on NES/SNES were a lot easier unless the controls were poor.

Y'played megaman?

I would definetly say every Megaman game, every Ninja Gaiden game...hell even Super Mario Bros. 1 was harder to beat than this game. And those are games that are considered good. When you get into the bad games with bad controls....well....yeah.

everyone complains about this area but i moved through it pretty swiftly. didn't take more than a couple tries per room.

though there are actually two ways to skip the entire dungeon and move straight to the boss. the hat manipulation mentioned above, and there's also a very simple out of bounds glitch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGWoc4nnE5M (this can be very helpful for the speedrun achievements but i wouldn't recommend skipping on a normal playthrough)

Didn't know about that OOB thing, thanks for the tip

I 100% BloodRayne and this was nothign compared to her game a couple years back. What I think is the real complaint behind the toughness of this dungeon segement is that the previous game and this entire game did not build up to it at all. Nothing from previous dungeons has any affect on these time jumpings. They just threw this at us(the player) instead of building up to it. Haven't played the next one yet as I am going to 100% this one first but I hope the final dungeon is tougher and the game actually builds up to it.

Is the vertical glitch or whatever patched? I just beat the game recently, first time playthrough. I'm glad other people hated the tower as much as I did. It is definitely poor level design, considering nothing in the game was like this. It should have been a bonus dungeon, with all the spike deaths harkening back to Mega Man days.

Anyways, I had a feeling there might have been a way to manipulate the extra vertical lift from the Pirate Hat, and I tried for awhile to get it to work, but to no avail. I watched a speedrun after I beat the game and realized it WAS possible. My jaw dropped, 'cause I realized I didn't have to suffer through those stupid rooms.

I can't seem to do it, so yeah - has this been patched?

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out. My timing was off. I should have guessed - end user error, as usual.
