Save File Location? (Solved)
I can't seem to figure out where save files are stored on the Steam version. It's not in the game's folder, not in My Documents, not in any folder in AppData, *not* anywhere to be found.

The reason I'm asking is because I want to transfer saves between my desktop and laptop. This works fine on the GoG release, but the Steam version gives me problems finding the save file to replace on both PCs.

It doesn't appear to be flagged as "Hidden" inside the game's folder either. This is kinda frustrating.

Sorry, but I already tried that! (As said in the original post.) The save file I plopped into the game's directory has an unchanged modified date after running Pirate's Curse, and if it's deleted, the "newer" save file, which I still have yet to find, is intact.

I can't seem to find where this rogue save file is on Steam so I can overwrite it. The solution is either bafflingly simple, or this is another unfortunate side effect of WayForward's half-and-half quality control on their PC ports.

Steam Cloud is turned off as well, if that mattered.

Have you tried running the game on the laptop without transferring the save?
I have! I got as far as the first save location in the game, so it would create a fresh save file that I could find to replace. Problem is, I've had trouble discovering where it is.

Thank you! That worked like a charm. Next time this happens with another game, I'll check the userdata folder as well; this is interesting.

The game complains that my GoG save is "corrupted", and wipes it for a fresh file, but this should at the least work with my existing save file from the Steam version on my desktop. (Which I will try later.)

Problem solved in the meantime. Now I know *where* the save is, what a relief.
