What are the differences between this and the unrated version?

First of all, I've read the FAQ and I know that there won't be a patch and so on and so forth. However, I've seen a lot of highly rated reviews that say there was "a lot missing" due to the removal of the h-scenes.

Is there any completely cut content that hurts character development, or content censored in such a way as to change its meaning? I'm not interested in the h-scenes simply for the visual enjoyment (I'm sure I can find pictures on the internet), but thus far I've really been enjoying the character development and dialogue and am wondering what I'm missing (if anything) by not having the unrated version.

If it helps I'm (I think) most of the way through Michiru's route. I haven't done any of the other routes.

I haven't played the 18+ version myself, but everything I've heard about the H scenes indicates that they don't really do anything for character development, with the possible exception of Amane, which is actually more the other way around (something that happens in an H scene makes sense later on due to character development).

personally, I just don't like when something is cut out
yep, cut jokes have a specific humor, but these jokes amused me

Can you give an example of one of the cut jokes? I'm having a hard time conceptualizing a joke that deserved to be cut considering the types of jokes that remain in this version.

one of the scenes which was cut, when they're on the beach, and many more along the main route cut or changed
