I've always had one question - also, spoilers.

When Michiru's lying in her coffin, after having read the letters, her phone, presumed dead, turns back on. And someone calls her and talks to her.

Who? I'm thinking it was Yumiko, but I don't remember reading an explanation for that anywhere...

The person that calls her is none other than Michiru herself. Recall back to Michiru's last phone call to her best friend in her flashback story scene.

As for why this happens, it could be that at that moment, those words are fitting when Michiru takes the same position that her best friend once took, and that they are words that helps her overcome the past regarding her best friend.
