The Fruit of Grisaia

The Fruit of Grisaia

Is it worth playing the game if you have already seen the anime?
So I'm about 6 episodes into the anime, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it's worth buying the VN if you have seen the anime. Is the story the same in both? If so I will save my money and just finish watching the anime.

Forget the abomination you've watched and read the real thing. Grisaia anime is awful. It has some plot elements from VN, but I strongly suggest you drop the anime and read the novel.

The anime is alright, the game vastly superior.

Dont even doubt it. Anime took the harem route, the original idea of Grisaia is 5 interwiened routes. Only Amane gets most of her story unveiled in the anime, compared to that, you wont get even 50% of other girls stories, not to mention they are significantly different (like in anime Sachi doesnt have nightmares, Yumiko has different problem solutions, Michiru comedian role is not explained etc.). Details of Yuuji's past are vastly improved as well, and since Labyrinth VN (2nd part of trilogy) is out, you can see the Real Caprice Cocoon version (albeit without porn stuff yet, which I strongly suggest to play as soon as its avalible, not because its porn, but because Grisaia is a *real* *adult* story about real problems and broken people just as much as about sweet love stories)

Not to forget in some routes you get time skips to marriage, kids, adult versions of our heroes, and *completed* stories are always better than the stupid cliche harem where everyone likes everyone but nothing serious ever happens

Thanks I've already bought the VN, but I have yet to start reading it. I stopped watching the anime so as not to ruin anymore of the story. Also (Rustle) I get what you where saying about the harem thing. For me, while it occasionally made for some funny moments, it felt out of place and made the serious parts in the story less impactful. Also the anime would constantly throw in up skirt shots of the girls for no reason. It cheapened the whole experience. I really hope the VN does the story better justice. Thanks to all of you.

dont misunderstand, the anime is still worth watching before or after the VN as you want. Visually its one of the highest quality non-movie anime series ever, and seeing things in motion and "breathing" (and Yuuji having a voice) is great and fun. Dont be mad about pants, like I said, its a move of respect to "adult" original source, though it does sometimes feel out of place. While the overall plot differs, its still not time wasted if you enjoy Grisaia franchise as a whole

Do consider using adult content patches if you dont mind (and if you dont mind blood and gore, and human bestiality exposed you shouldnt mind some sex scenes, which are all very sweet and are more about man and woman's emotional bond than just desires, and are incorporated organically, and from another side, places with them cut out feel weird) enhancing your experience with much more emotional content than just masturbation material as stupid people claim.

Dont forget to save at every choice fork (several buttons) present. I suggest giving each a different save tab (not quicksave bottom right, but ESC->save). Later on you will have 4 choices to start girl routes, if you skip them you will end up with 5th one. There are 2-3 bad ends possible as well. Sachi is the only one that will require 3 consecutive "correct" choices to initiate her route. Have fun and welcome to one of the best imaginary stories you will ever find

"Visually its one of the highest quality non-movie anime series ever" - bro, do you even watch anime?) The visual quality is average, maybe even below average.

"Dont be mad about pants, like I said, its a move of respect to "adult" original source" - no respect at all, just pure fan-service. Grisaia is not like Sakura series where all girls always fall to the ground with their butts higher than any other part of their body)

"There are 2-3 bad ends possible" - actually it's 5, one for each route.

Yes, it's not "that bad" compared to the others, but still is considered a bad ending, because Yumico is left with her psychological trauma to the end of her days.
