Inspired by Solstice?
At first glance this game immediately reminds me of Solstice for NES. Any chance that was at least part of the inspiration here?

You got it, it was mostly inspired by Solstice!
never played Solisticel, for me it is mechanic form Knight Lore (I played in on ZX Spectrum in 1980s) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knight_Lore

You're right! As you can read in the link you posted, Solstice was inspired by Knight Lore as many other games :
"The isometric, flip-screen trend continued in Britain for several years. Apart from Fairlight, Sweevo's World and Get Dexter, other isometric flip-screen games included Jon Ritman's Knight Lore-inspired Batman (1986), Head over Heels (1987), The Last Ninja (1987), La Abadía del Crimen (1987), Cadaver (1990), and console games Solstice (1990)[20] and Landstalker (1992)."
That's why I bought it.
