Major issues with controllers
Hi, I just launched the game, and I'm not able to setup the controller.
I tried with my fightstick (Madcatz TE) : Up and Down are reversed, works when set as Dpad, and with my Xbox 360 controller : Dpad does not work, only left stick, but buttons do not work. So even with 2 controllers (perfectly working with other games), I'm not able to play the game. I'm not sure if the issue is from a W10 update because my controllers work with other games. So what shall I do? Ask for a refund if you can't fix it? Not my first choice, I would prefer keep and play the game!

Edit
I also tried with an old gamepad, Saitek P2600, same issue than Xbox controller, only the left stick work, but no button.
So there is a big issue with probably a lot of controllers.

Hi,

Sorry for the problems with the controllers, Im aware the 360 wired pads have also broken and am working on a patch to fix it. I'm having to replace the entire input and controller redefine stuff so it's taking a while. Hoping to release it in the next week or so. This should also fix the Xbox One controller issues.

Edit: I have a build that's fixed the 360 (wired and wireless), PS4 and Xbone controller issues under Win10. Fighting sticks won't be supported. Aiming to get the build live over the weekend, but I need to fix some achievements and test through the game.

Great, thank you Gareth!
Sad sticks won't be supported, but if at least Xbox gamepads work, it's a step forward.
I'll be expecting the fix in the next weeks.

I did try the sticks (I have a SF IV Fighting Stick) but it seems they don't try and identify themselves as joypads - despite mapping to a 360 pad, in the case of my stick - which causes the problem. :(

It's odd because my fightstick, when switched to digital pad (via the switch button located near the Xbox logo), partially works ingame (left and right are ok, button inputs are ok, but up and down are reversed) without using third party software like Joy2Key.
But if the stick is switched to Left Stick or Right Stick, that does not work anymore.
I checked within the Windows devices setting, my gamepad and fightsticks are perfectly setup and calibrated.
Could it be possible to allow a manual mapping in the game setting to try to "force" the right inputs?

Probably not, the reason everything broke in the first place was related to some XInput changes MS made with the Win10 anniversary addition. Wasn't something I could directly fix until there were some updates to the input library I use. I've rolled all these in and re-done how I handle all the input in-game.

I've just pushed a new build, it doesn't directly support fight sticks (as mentioned) but it has fixed all the DPad / Broken button inputs on my 360/Xbone and PS4 pads.

I just launched the game with the 50 Mo patch with a great hope, unfortunately it's even worst.
With the 360 gamepad, not only buttons but also Dpad and joystick do not work anymore, I can't navigate in the menu.
So I plugged the arcade stick, to check, and it's also worst because A-B-X-Y-L-R-LS-RS-Select-Start buttons do not work anymore since the update (only left, right, and up and down reversed work). So even stick lost button inputs whereas they were working before.
Keyboard is now the only way to play the game.

To be sure it's not a hardware problem, after Lumo I launched randomly Nuclear Throne and Geometry Wars 3, and there is absolutely no problem with my gamepad, it does work.

Thank you very much for your reactivity, but unfortunately latest patch broke the few that previously worked :(

ok, to confirm, the version number on the front of the screen says v1.11.08?

And you're running under win10 with the latest patches?

Also, have you gone to settings->controls and tried defining your own input mappings?

The first launch of the new build may pick up your old controller settings, but you can erase these by hitting "Set Defaults" in the controls screen, then exiting the game and relaunching. I have put code in there to detect this and do it for you, but just in case...

Also, just try going in game (ie: starting the game with mouse and keyboard) and then plug the joypad in. There may just be an issue with menu navigation that I'm not seeing.

Yes it's v11.08, W10 up to date (just checked).
In the W10 settings, no problems with the mapping (and calibration) of my hardware.

Ingame I tried "set defaults", did not change anything, even after 2 game restarts.
Then I launched the adventure mode 2 times, but only the keyboard allows me to control the character.
Escape button does not work to quit the game (in fact it does not do anything), I had to alt/tab to go back to the desktop and shut the game with a right click.

Sorry :(

Ok, Escape doesn't work until you're transitioned into the game (got zapped but the Spec Eye and teleported), so that's not an issue.

Regarding the pads, I'm at a loss at this stage. I had all the same bugs as you reported and it's fixed on both my dev PC and my laptop. It's also been tested on some other PCs, just via this steam update, and it's also fine.

Short of deleting your local copy and re-installing through steam in the vague hope something changes, I'm not sure what else to suggest at this point.

After a hard work for Gareth to try to figure out the problem (a great thanks for his support), I finally resolved it using a Dualshock 3 and SCP Toolkit Driver, now I'm able to play the game with a gamepad. It seems Dualshock 4 not even require an additionnal driver, so if you have any gamepad issues, you could give it a try.

Phew! Glad we got that fixed!

Full list of supported controllers has been pinned to the discussion group, but you can also find it here:

Just relaunched the game a couple of minutes ago (did not play in 2017), and my 360 gamepad (wired Hori Ex) now works! Ok only D-Pad works fine because diagonals have troubles with the thumbstick, but the game is now fully playable without any third party program. Thanks!
