This game is seeking to fill the gaps left by those games and expand the story.
But his sun need to choose for himself, what he likes more.
EDIT: And how could I forget! Depending on how old your son is Humongous entertainment did a bunch of animated-movie style adventure games: Pajama Sam, Freddi Fish, PutPut. Graphics wise they should all hold up pretty well, and for grade school aged kids should be right on the mark. They're super cute! (PutPut is the 'youngest' of these and Pajama Sam is the 'oldest'.)
Double edit: I just checked -- and a bunch of the old Humongous games are on steam. They're pretty cheap too!
Also they apparently have a franchise called Spy Fox that I never encountered as a kid. It looks like it's for a little older than the Pajama Sam group. The kind of 8-11 age.
I know many of people compair Kings Quest to Teltale games. But I find it allot closer to KING Art style.
The difficult part in suggesting games you can play with your son is a maturity issue. How old is he and what do you feel is okay to have in games he sees? Because there are some excellent things I can suggest but they're nowhere near as family friendly as Kings Quest.
