Secondly; try feeding the sweet cake to someone. It restores 2 hearts, so the blacksmith won't die while you feed the bakers wife so she's strong enough to make the poisoned sweet cake, knock out the guards by the bakers, leaving you with a poisonous meal to feed the blacksmiths last guard.
By the way. how do you get the brain page on top of the mushroom between the blacksmith cell and the bakers?
I don't yet know how to get the broom!
Day 1: Clean spider webs, see everyone go to bed.
Day 2: Feed the rat the meat and retreive the chair from the chest. Afterwards, go to the rocking horse and use the chair on it to get the first gold coin. Go to the stair well head towards the top. Once there, use the spider web on the lever so you can get past the guard. Once in the top room, go right and find the shopkeeper and buy the cure-all. Head back down and use the cure-all on the bakers wife. While there, give the chair to them for firewood since you don't need it anymore. After that head for bed.
Day 3: Feed yourself the meat and head up to the top floor. Head all the way to the right and retrieve the sword (which is contraban). After that, head back to the main top floor room and climb the shelves to reach a door open using the lever next to it (Top left). Head through and go right (not through the door) to see goblins watching another goblin kissing a frog. Head up so your above the stage and use the level to move the rock so it's on the button that opens the trap door above the frog (pull lever when the curtain is up to move it past the log). After that, return to the main top floor room and head to the right most room, where you will see toilets with flys. Use the frog to get one. After the, head back down to the blacksmiths room and give her the sword and choose the guy with the coin. Doing so will automatically send you to bed, so GIVE THE BLACKSMITH THE SWORD LAST.
Day 4: Feed yourself again so you can open the pipe in your room. Climb through and retrieve the coin. A music player is also in the room, so mess with it until you find the lulaby melody and memorise the clackers postion. Go back and head to the top floor, to the shopkeeper and buy the porrage and feed it to the alchemists. They will remember the ingredient for the potion is fly eyes. Give them the fly and you will get plant grower. Go to the top floor and use the plant grower on the center area, it will be grown next time you go to bed. Next, head up the shelves again and head in the little door on the right. The room has a goblin on a stack of matresses and a music box. Put the lulaby melody in the music box so the goblin falls asleep and you can retrieve the pea inbetween the matresses. Now go back out and open to three rock door just up from the small door, and head through. head left and talk with the slipper goblins in the room. The slipper will go flying over the cliff, on top of some plants. Use the plant grower again, remebering it will grow next time you go the bed. Return to the previous room, but head right, into a door. Walk to the end of this garden room until you come to a rose bush. Take one and start head to the alchemists. NOTE: THE ROSE WILTS AND WILL DIE UNLESS YOU USE IT WITH THE WATER, SO USE EVERYONE USE EVERY WATER SOURCE ON THE WAY, INCLUDING IN THE ROOM WITH THE FLYS. After that, give the pea and the rose to the alchemist so they can create a bomb (which is contraban) and gain a food supply, so don't worry about them staving anymore. Go to the rat room and store the bomb so you don't lose it and go to sleep.
Day 5: Retreive your bomb, and head to the top floor, climb newly grow plant and retreive a poisonous plant and a gold coin (which only use at this point it to by chop sticks so you can retrieve contraban you failed to store in the rat room chest before sleeping, which contraban is kept right next to this gold coin). Head to the slipper room and retieve the slipper, and head to the far right of the room to a goblin holding a broom. Use the slipper on the broom goblin and all the goblins will leave to room and gain the broom goblins broom. Use the bomb on the fire (which was behind the slipper group) and head through the new pathway. At the end, there is a board filled with pages. Interact with it to move things along and retrieve the bravery page. Now some goblins will appear and open up a pipe. Go through that pipe and retrieve the pliers and head to the rat room to store the pliers. Give the blacksmith the meat, then the broom. You will get the storage room key, but be automatically sent to sleep.
Day 6: Go to the top floor to the store room, between the shopkeeper play and where you got the sword and use your new key on the door. Inside should be flour and a heart page. Go to the bakers, feed them them meat, and give them the flour. You should recieve a sweet cake, which you use on the blacksmith. Head for bed because, while you need to give the posoinous plant to the bakers, they require 5 hearts to use it.
Spend a few cycles feeding the bakers until they have 5 hearts, noting the blacksmith will survive unless you didn't feed her the sweet cake. Hand the poisonous plant to the bakers and the goblin gaurds will be knocked out and you get a poisonous sweet cake. Use the poisonous sweet cake on the last guard in the blacksmiths room. Now retreive the pliers and pick with person/people (alchemists, bakers or blacksmith) you want to continues the chapter with, and use the pliers on their cell door.
You should then be past the keep people alive part of the game.
By the way, i found out you can't save everyone and get all the pages because it requires you saving the goat with the cure-all, so you can't save the bakers.
Edit: I think it is possible to do this if you knock out the chef instead of the coin guy with the sword, checking it out right now.
1) I eat the meat and go get the sword and the frog
2) Take the frog to the old couple and the old man will lick and go crazy making them both more healthy, I haven't read anyone else doing this but I recommend it because it saves food and you get the frog back
3) Exchange for the frog for the fly, give the old people the fly and take the potion to the vine area, use it because you need to wait a day on it anyways.
4) Next give the sword and knock out the goblin on the left for the key
5) Give me the meat to the rat and get the chair
6) Use the chair to get the coin in the nest
7) Climb the vines to get the other coin
8) Buy the food for the two coins and then go eat the food
9) Use your strengh on the thing on the left side of your room to climb up and get the coin and get the music box pattern
10) Go do the music box pattern to get the pea
11) Get the medicine with the coin
12) Go in the door and get the flour and page
13) Go to the top floor and talk to the goblins with the slipper and have them throw it, use your potion on it.
14) Grab a rose on your way out and keep putting it in the water as you go, final place is next to the old people. And then you can just give it to them.
15) Now here I usually save the bakers and give them the chair and flour and get the sweetcakes, then I give the sweet cakes, the pea and the rose to the backers and they make me a bomb, I put it in the rat area storage.
16) I have to sleep and I lose Mr. Fancypants... any suggestions on that?
17) Otherwise just go upstairs get the slipper for the broom goblin and put the bomb in the fire
If you knock out the coin guy, you can't get the key to get the flour until presumably later. If you knock out the chef guy first, you get the key to where the flour is, and are presumably short a gold coin.
This is what I did, keep in mind that the solutions this time around are somewhat linear:
Day 1: get the webs, talk to everyone
Day 2: eat the meat immediately, go get the sword, pea, frog/fly-eyes, end the day by giving the sword to the blacksmith.
Day 3: feed the rat, get the chair, get the first gold coin, buy the medicine, give the medicine to the bakers, give the flour to the bakers, give the chair to the bakers, you get a food item. I ate the food item immediately and then went and moved the rose to the alchemists, and got the gold , and triggered the shoe toss, coin from the pipe, and then end the day
Day 4: give the food to the alchemist, the fly eyes, get the weed grower, use the weed grower in the two places where it's used, end the day
Day 5: get the stinky flower, gold coin, buy the pie, use the pie with the alchemists, give them the pea and rose, and they create the bomb.
At that point I just went straight to cinderella-goblin got the shoe, gave it to her, then blew up the fireplace, got the bolt cutters and then cut the bolt on the alchemists door. The rest of the game isn't as involved.
Still this wound up with not saving the unicorn-goat.
As far as I know, it's inconsequential who you save, but the ending image is affected. Since there is an achievement for saving everyone (except the goat), and one for getting all the coins.
This was how I saved all the townspeople:
Day 1
- Get spider web
Day 2
- Eat meat to get strength level 2
- Get toad from the goblin theater
- Get sword from stone
- Give the toad to the Hobblepots (gives Hobblepots enough stamina to stand)
- Get the fly using the toad by the outhouses
- Give the fly to Hobblepots to get weed potion
- Use weed potion on weed in the goblin ladder
- Give Amaya the sword and use on the Goblin on the right to get coin 1 (automatically ends day)
Day 3
- Eat meat again to get strength level 3
- Unscrew bolts in the pipe in Graham's room and go through to the next room and get coin 2
- Get pea using lullaby found in the same room with coin 2
- Climb the weed in the goblin ladder to Get coin 3 and chunder flower
- Interact with the goblins with the glass slipper then use the weed potion on weed the glass slipper fell on
- Purchase the cure-all potion and the bowl of porridge from the Merchant of Miracles
- Get rose and take it to the water fountain in the Hobblepot's room (stopping at every fountain on the way to freshen the rose)
- Give the porridge to the Hobblepots and then give them the pea and the rose (this automatically gives you the bone bomb and the Hobblepots no longer require food)
- End the day by using the bed lever in Graham's room (the bone bomb gets confiscated)
Day 4
- Use the meat on the giant rat and inspect the chest to get the chair
- Use the chair on the rocking horse to get coin 4
- Buy the chopsticks from the Merchant of Miracles
- Use the chopsticks on the contraband locker at the top of the goblin ladder and get back the bone bomb
- Get the glass slipper and give it to the goblin sweeping to get the broom
- Use the bone bomb on the fireplace
- Get the page of bravery from the wall in the next room
- Enter the pipe and get the bolt cutters in the next room
- Put the bolt cutters into the chest in the giant rat's room (you can skip this because you have access to the contraband locker)
- If you want to take Chester into the endgame, you can use the bolt cutters on their cell door at this point and proceed to the finale for the chapter. If you want to take Bramble or Amaya, you still need a few extra days.
- Give Amaya the broom (automatically gives you the pantry key and ends the day)
Day 5
- Use the pantry key on the pantry door and get the page of heart and the bag of flour
- Give the meat to Bramble (gives Bramble enough stamina to sit)
- Give Bramble/Wente the bag of flour and chair (automatically gets you a sweetcake)
- Give the sweetcake to Amaya
- End the day by using the bed lever in Graham's room
Day 6
- Get the bolt cutters from the chest in the giant rat's room
- Give the meat to Bramble (gives Bramble enough stamina to stand)
- Give Bramble/Wente the chunder flower (automatically gives you the poisoned sweetcake)
- Give the poisoned sweetcake to the final guard in Amaya's room
- Use the boltcutter on whichever person you want to take with you into the endgame
From this point you go into the final part of the chapter which is incredibly straightforward and is exactly the same regardless of who you choose to take with you.
I might have remembered this incorrectly and it requires an extra day or two. The townspeople won't help you if they're laying down (their stamina is less than three hearts) and will require you to end the day to get another meat to give to them.
To get all the pages you have to change the strategy slightly:
- Instead of giving the cure-all potion to Bramble, give it to Mr. Fancycakes
- Mr. Fancycakes breaks out of his chains and smashes the wall, after which you can take him
- Give Mr. Fancycakes to the Merchant of Miracles who gives you the hatchet in return
- Use the hatchet on the giant mushroom to get the page of knowledge
Giving the cure-all to Mr. Fancycakes removes Bramble and Wente from the game which prevents you from receiving the poisoned sweetcake from them. I haven't tested this, but I believe the way to free Amaya in this situation is to use the bolt cutter on the empty cell door and use all the ingredients on the stove to bake it yourself.
