I have checked for the latest driver updates, but nothing new is popping up as far as I can see. Also ran the verify integrity of game cache and it completed sucessfully.

As you can see, I'm still on windows 8.

Not really sure what else I could be missing.

Does it crash imidiately after you launch the game; you see the little block in the middle of the screen that says "king's quest" with a castle in the background and the your screen turns white?

Same problem and yes, the little block comes up that says preparing to launch then goes away. the screen does not turn white though.

The same thing is happening on my computer, I can get all the way to the point where it says "begin game" then it crashes.

I'll have to try this. See if I can eliminate whatever's causing it to immediately to crash.

Had the same issue and solved it by skipping the introduction cinematics (Sierra, Unreal engine etc.).

1) Open the following file:

<Game folder>\King's Quest\GrahamsGame\Config\DefaultEngine.ini

*My game folder for example is at:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\King's Quest\

2) Locate the line: StartupMovies=KQ_Intro
Replace it for: ;StartupMovies=KQ_Intro
(insert a semicolon ";" symbol at the beggining)

3) Run the game with the Launch options: -windowed -dxlevel 90
*For example, go to Steam Library menu, right-click on Kings Quest on the left panel, select Properties. On General tab, click on Set Launch Options. Type in the box: -windowed -dxlevel 90

4) Run the game.
