Get us those upgrades, jay_rab!
1. First install the steam version
2. Download the Japanese version from their japanese site (google translate may help)
3. Unzip and overwrite your steam version with the Japanese
4. Inside the Tyranobuilder folder there's a folder called "lang" inside it remove "ja.json" and rename the "en.json" into "ja.json"
(Not sure if you need to buy the Japanese pro version or the free version is enough)
Ps: Haven't done much testing as I've just figured everything out, but at first sight all seems to look ok
Yup, I tried that and then some. However, turns out it was in vain. After doing some research, I came to the conclusion that TyranoScript has two versions; V4, which is stable and rarely updated, and V5, which is more experimental, unstable, but updated much more regularly.
If I'm correct, TyranoBuilder (both English and Japanese versions) currently use the V4 version of TyranoScript. Both run on the same WebKit version, both have the same tags (comparing the English tag wiki to the Japanese one)... Etc. I also believe this to be the case when you take into account that TyranoScript currently has two debugging tools; Rider for V4, and Studio for V5. All TyranoBuilder versions utilize Rider as their debugging tool.
I also tested, in the Japanese version, to do some of the things I stated on my post. I tried running some APNG images. I tried doing some 3D stuff present in TyranoScript V5, nothing worked.
Anyway, enough of my ramblings. Since you already did your own research, I assume you already know what I'm talking about here. I sent an e-mail to STRIKEWORKS to see if he could give me at least a hint or two on how to translate TyranoStudio to English... Otherwise, I'll create images with english text in them so we all can use the latest TyranoScript V5 AND its debugging tool. Images wouldn't be ideal but that'll be a last-resort thing.
Lately I've been thinkering with Ren'Py as I've felt like Tyrano is slowly becoming abandonware...but it's just not the same...I like working visually when making graphics...
Would be great to hear more from the devs and get some things to look forward to...
I feel you. I truly do... I don't want to switch to Ren'Py because I genuinely feel like you can do everything you can do on Ren'Py in Tyrano. Really, not to insult Ren'Py, but if you want to do cool stuff in there you need to actually know Python and programming and stuff. It's a hassle. Besides, TyranoBuilder is the abandonware, not TyranoScript. That is being actively developed (last updated on 2020/7/23!)
Let's be positive. TyranoScript V5 should eventually leave its "beta" stage and become the main branch, leaving V4 behind and therefore getting added to TyranoBuilder. Or better yet, if STRIKEWORKS actually responds to my mail and I find a way to translate TyranoStudio, we'll be able to use V5 without having to wait!
Let's see what happens. I *am* going to translate it either way along with its new tags, I'm just waiting a few days to give STRIKEWORKS time to respond. Don't you worry!
