That said, there's no way to force true fullscreen and the mouse being unused in game is also likely a design choice (for the options and whatnot).
Possible reasons for not wanting a launcher might be due to the region lock too. There is no way to start the game from folder now without modifying something, as opposed to starting it from Steam. The region lock is "correctly implemented" right now, I suppose.
Its funny they did it this way but oh Japan, Japan never changes
You can tell because with LR and the two predesessors, If you choose fullscreen, The game's engine just upscales it to bordeless window, And keeps rendering at 720p.
Just check all the Japanese titles, Like Agarest and Hyperdemensia etc. By default they are ussually windowed.
I think in the west we are so ussed to try to fully immerse into the games, Where in their culture it's more about multitasking so to say.
Please, Im not saying that everyone is doing this, I just think there is a different way of gaming between the western gamers and asian gamers, Which reflects in the game engines.
Just check a few Japanese Twitch streamers and you will see the diffrence.
Big fan of those games btw.
Right, Back to Lightning!
LOL. That, and also the "reboot" option on top. Reboot what? The image you're running? :P
I am not saying its a BAD thing. I am just surprised that they chose to go that way. Although I guess its good that you can't suddenly quit the game with ESC lol
But I agree, It does feel like a emulator. I kinda like it tbh. As long as the game runs proper. I just think you loose some performance in fullscreen window copared to fullscreen, But meh. :)
I guess they will stick with the launcher for the mobile ports to Steam which is fine by me.
The question is, seeing as FFXV and FFVII:R are likely to come out on PC, will they run in a similar environment you think?
They probably have build further on FFXIV's engine, Which is pretty good.
The XIII games are ports from PS3, Which is a very different system then the PC's x32 and x64. And now PS4 and Xbox one both beeing all the same architecture, The PC releases, At least I hope, Will be much more customisable, And optimized.
Just my opinion. :)
Seeing how the XV demo runs on PS4, I have high hopes for PC releases in the future, As they don't need to make hughe change to the engines to make the games cross-platform.
Let's hope LR is the first game they released that shows some effort and its only going to get better from here on out. I wish they released FFIX or did some HD remaster of it. I would give my kidney for that.
