Question about failure

I'm very confused at this game, idk if I can beat it when the final boss come. So, the question is, if I fail to defeat the final boss, what happens? I just escape / start over from the day 1 / start from the day 1 with my previous stats? what happens?
Do I have to worry about not being strong enough?

I'm told if you fail to beat the final boss, you get a game over and are forced into a New Game +, the same way as if you failed to get enough days (which means you don't unlock weapon and shield upgrading, or hard mode).

You can always save your game before meeting him that way you can keep trying.

with a NG+ i start with my previous stats, and I can just rush to the end, completing only the main quests, right?

You'll have to redo everything (the number of sidequests to unlock day 14, etc), but you would keep your stats, abilities, garbs, etc...

As an aside, are you on the last day? If yes, did you do the 4 trials?
