The steam overlay can also cause different issues with this game, so you could try turning that off.
Check if the game's controller options is not set to forced off in steam's big picture mode library. if it is set to forced off, then change it to Global option.
You can access this particular controller option setting by opening Steam in big picture mode and navigating to the game in the big picture library and select Manage game.
Also make sure the controller configuration that you are using is not having those weird button mappings and remap the buttons if they are mapped that way.
Next there should be a DirectInput.ini file generated by the game next to the LRFF13.exe file. delete the DirectInput file first and then remove the x360ce program and the dll files it has generated in that folder. also remove and close any of the input programs that you have installed on your PC before, to get your controller working.
Finally make sure that next to LRFF13.exe file, there should only be a bink2w32.dll, a steam_api.dll and a folder called weiss_data.
I will reattempt this method, though I have already tried this (including getting rid of that atrocious directinput.ini)
I have tried remapping my controller within Steam Big Picture Mode just to ensure it didn't map incorrectly automatically as well.
This is truly a baffling issue, but I appreciate the help.
So, in doing this, the game doesn't recognize my controller input at all. Steam says its plugged in, i can still use the overlay button, but no other input is recognized at all.
Usually Xinput based controllers should work without any issues and I think the 360 controller of yours should also be an Xinput based one.
Thts weird. setting up the controller through steam big picture mode should have worked. Are there other games in your steam library which are able to take input from your controller when its setup like this or is it just this game that refuses to take input ?
using a custom config someone made of the keyboard mappings for a ps4 controller, which for some reason is working perfectly.
thank you for helping ^-^
