Should I try to beat Aeronite on my first playthrough while I still have Fang?
Bear in my mind I have not obtained the ability to upgrade equipment and my bonus stats from quests are

HP - +6,370
Strength - +681
Magic - +651
Maximum ATB - + 30
EP Max Value - +3
Recovery items - +3

I do not have any of the DLC costumes because I am playing on Xbox.

Afraid Fang's contribution to fights isn't much. Especially against something hitting so hard as Aeronite, she'll probably spend most of the fight in mediguard stance.

But, I mean, you can save before fighting it, so give it a try if you want. I could be wrong about Fang's effectiveness.

I have tried very little but got utterly defeated.
Does he count for the quest by that old guy where you have to kill evey ''Last one'', the guy over by the lighthouse.
I just wonder of I should actually fully try using a strat.

Seems Aeronite counts for Last One Standing.

Guess you should become stronger first. I defeated him only in my 4th run

Aeronite is mostly about the proper setup combined with some good microing. Here's how I defeated him on my first playthrough on Normal on Day 7:

1) Miqo'te Garb: spams Thundara, then Magic Slash on the last phase.
2) Quiet Guardian: has Preta Hood for magical immunity. Use other equipment to boost up Lightning's magic defence as well. Spams Thundara. You use this whenever Aeronite attacks you.
3) Whichever garb you want: spams Thundara, has Chaos' Revenge to make staggering easier.

The strategy: cast Thundara until Aeronite is staggered 4 times. Don't stop casting it. When Aeronite attacks you with basic spells, switch to Quiet Guardian to block them, and keep casting Thundara. When Aeronite uses Black Hole to lure you in, switch to Quiet Guardian to block it. If you fail to block the Black Hole, switch to Quiet Guardian and use Heavy Guard to defend against Roar. When the stagger wave becomes red, switch to the garb with Chaos' Revenge, and Thundara should be able to stagger the boss.

After 2 staggers, Aeronite begins to use Hellfire. Cast Defaith on him (you need to cast it twice to make it stick), and then switch to Quiet Guardian and use Heavy Guard. If you won't survive it, use Phoenix Down or Arise. Then keep casting Thundara.

After 4 staggers, debuff the boss. Deprotect and Imperil are the most important, but cast Deshell too if you have time. Then throw an EnX Potion (for example, Enthunder Potion) to give yourself an elemental boost for attacks. Then throw a Hero's Potion or Nektar of the Gods Omega to buff yourself. After that, keep using Magic Slash until the boss dies. Reapply buffs and debuffs if necessary. Use Overclock if your ATB runs out. Switch to Quiet Guardian to block attacks, and then switch back to Miqo'te.

Here's a video version of my strategy. I did a few mistakes there, but it should give you a general idea of the approach: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ci183w2rj0hj6pa/LR-Aeronite.mp4?dl=0
