so its not just me , i guess i need to farm high tier Mediguard abilities for all garbs , and honestly in 13 i couldnt get past the final Boss at first either ( i actually had to start over at every barthy fight )
it is , since it has no normal level system , so even if my health is high from doing over 80% of all sidequests , it wont make strong enough to tank down a boss , especially since i have to have 4-5 Elements and also enough shielding and damage dealing in my Loadouts somehow
im glad bhunivelze is strong tho , its sad when you can just Trio of 9999 + Blitzball god the final Boss in X ( or just zombie attack and double phoenix down on the story endboss)
same with all bosses in X , even Seymour or the fights against sin , you just throw your strongest overdrives at them and they die , especially with over 130 Damage
PS: i thought about starting over but doing this removed my Progress in sidequests , is it impossible to have both Avid Reader and to save the sinless listed as completed on your sidequest list ? im a perfectionist and this kinda makes me , well , unhappy
then 1 set of attack (with ultima weapons) (A)
then 1 100% defense set (knight) with magic to stagger (B)
and 1 magic set plus heavy attack. (C) (the artemis attack gear is good)
strategy:
if you did 80-90% oof sidequest and canvas is:
melee with (A) always and defense with (B)
only stagger boss in his final form (easy to pick, u do 0 damage)
that is all.
3 phoenix down and many x-potions
I had 4 ether and hit him with 7 of army of ones.
I then hit him with 2 aerogas in one garb, two aerogas in another and a couple of blizzagas in the third one. Cycling back and forth so I can keep all of the ATB gauges up. Kept at it for 10 minutes, beating on him over and over again, only stopping to defend against his attacks. Even then I let a couple of minor attacks get through just to keep the stagger meter up.
Combined those two strategies got him down to half health, and had no impact on staggering him.
And this was on normal mode, without going to the dungeon (which makes him stronger).
The thing is I remember beating him once on easy mode. No idea how I did that.
As far as I can tell, getting him to the last form isn't that hard, a couple of x-potions does the job. After that my strategy is:
Give up and watch a youtube video of the ending.
Congradulations, you win!!!
The only other thing I can think of is forget staggering him and wear a garb with comple magic immunity. Since he can't hurt you you shold get him, after 5 or 6 hours or so.
For the last form, spam Thundara and Aerora so that you first cast Thundara twice, then Aerora twice, then Thundara twice etc, to keep the chain going without doing the finisher. When the boss casts Heartless Angel, Overclock and keep spamming Thundara and Aerora until he becomes staggered. Be sure to guard against Heartless Angel if he manages to finish the animation. When the boss is staggered, just debuff him and finish him off.
Tried that myself several times. He seems to be literally impossible to stagger regardless of the strategy.
I am on normal mode with fairly high stats since I am on a new game plus, like three times through the normal game not including the final boss. However I didn't activate the last dungeon because I knew he would be too hard.
Regardless, he just will not stagger. Even with a spear and beat down and one garb, and aerora on two others. Going back and forth over and over again, overclocking.
Nothing works.
Nothing.
It is simply an impossible fight.
And the magic immunity trick won't work for the final phase either.
