Hosting a dedicated server on a dedicated server box?

Hi.

I looked through the forums and didn't see mention of this, so I'll ask.

Is it possible to install the server on a separate computer using the typical SteamCMD command like with other multiplayer client/server games?

I have a dedicated server box that I use for hosting 24/7 game servers. I'd like to be able to install the Eden Rising server on that box so I can play on my gaming PC and have the server running on a separate server PC.

Does anyone know if this is possible with Eden Rising?

So, how is one expected to have a server up 24/7? Surely, they don't expect a person to keep his main PC up and running 24/7 like a dedicated server just so they can run an Eden Rising server?

The game is more intended to be played as sessions rather than as a dedicated server due to the shared server based progression. Not having dedicated servers was a conscious decision made by the developers early in development and isnt something that's likely to change.

on your website it shows instructions on a headless server. https://edenrising.com/2018/05/17/server-hosting-guide/. It is too bad this was removed form the game. My group will discuss this but I feel it will likely be the reason we find another game.

@Starblight yea my gaming group looked into this game but with out the dedicated server option its a dead issue for us.. We have members all over the world playing at different times and don't want to loose progression every time they play with different members of our community.. So this game is a NO GO for us..

We played once and there was interest but we dropped it. I can not say for sure a dedicated server would have altered the outcome but it would have helped. I found the game to be interesting.
