Can't move troops on battlefield: game is unplayable

I put in a bit of time on this game last year and while it crashed once in a while, it had no notable problems.

I come back to it and it's unplayable. Whether in a game or even the tutorial, there's no way to move your troops around, though they attack just fine. Left clicking to move them does nothing.

So... now what?

Same problem.
Have played game for years. Installed it on new laptop.
Mouse + clicks work on other screens but not the battlefield screen to order a unit to move to a location.

The mouse + clicks work on selecting a unit + if I click to order an attack on an enemy unit the cursor is over --- but --- the clicks on a land area to make a unit move to that spot does nothing. So the only way to make a unit move is to attack an enemy unit.

Well, I've dug into this and no one's solved the problem... and no solution is forthcoming from the developers, given the age of the game, and Steam offers nothing.

Oh well... not the best look from Steam though. They just break games and then shrug their shoulders.

It was working a year or so ago.... I was playing it on desktop on steam with no issues some time ago... That system went down + eventually I got this laptop a week or so ago.
I wish it would work. This is perhaps my favorite game of all time....

Same issue here, you guys are with W11 too? i used to play this game on W10 with an older laptop and worked fine, but with the new one there's this.

Does anyone contacted Steam to solve this problem? Tried everything inside the game menus but to no avail. So sad.

This isn't a new issue. I haven't played the game in over two years because I can't get the units to move on the battle map.

That's weird. I'm playing the game, Version 2.01 PE with no problems moving the units around in the tutorial. Not that I know what the hell I'm doing but the units move to where I click on the battle map.

If your computer has both a discrete graphics card (dGPU - separate from the cpu) and an integrated graphics card (iGPU - integrated together with the cpu) try using the iGPU. Go into Settings and type "graphics settings" which will bring up the list of your apps. Click on Medieval - Total War. Click on Options then click on the iGPU and click Save. Exit out of the game and go back in and see if that fixes the problem. It worked for me.

i tried this on my win 11 comp last night, the controls was being weird, it felt like it wasnt working properly, troops not following what im telling them to do, moving around wasnt working.
