Change Faction Mid Game?

I'm sure I used to be able to do this? till possible and how?

It sounds me very odd, or I have not understood very well...

Imagine you have dominated the game early on as Danes, and are close to winning. Then imagine shifting to a faction that is not doing as well, such as the Portuguese in this example. How would I do it? I do know it's possible, but don't remember how to do it?

Oh, man, you reminded me something I was doing ages ago. But in M2TW Kingdoms. I believe it was also possible for RTW. But for the first Medieval? - never tried honestly.

Anyway, here is what you had to do. You need a hotseat campaign and write change_faction (France, Poland, etc but the one you do not control atm) command in the console and then you end turn - then you should be in control of other faction.

The version of the game also mattered. I guess you needed the latest ones. Maybe someone else can correct me if I missed something.

The problem appears to be the short cut icon. In "properties" there is no shortcut tab, as with most other icons, therefore no "target" location to add -ian to. Help?

Wow, I can not believe how long I've been playing this game since it dropped! I thought I had pretty much mastered it, but you've totally opened my eyes to something else entirely. Bro, that's awesome. I'll definitely look into this.

Hey, it should work if you create shortcut then add the command line switches to the target field in the shortcut tab (sounds like you can't find this - are you finding the game in steamapps/common, then r-click the MTWVI exe and create shortuct?). Works for me on win10 personal.

This way you can have multiple shortcuts with different command line options. When you run it in debug you can switch factions with shift+0 through to 9 for the factions.
