Hmm... I'm beginning to think this patch is actually for the launcher and not the game itself

The launcher changed to reflect WH3 releasing

Changes in win depot if to believe SteamDB (https://steamdb.info/app/345260/history/) which is for shared windows-related libraries or launcher for most Total War games I suppose?

As per SteamDB again (their data freely available on webpage) it affects nearly all currently available Total War games, namely:

This game is old and no longer supported, any patches will be for launcher and emulator compatibility related to running on windows 10 and now 11 from Steam. BTW, several patches back resulted in the game not being able to run on windows 8. F**K Microsoft! The patch does nothing for me as I run Linux machines and games will ether run or not. If a game will not run on Linux I just do not play it, simple. Besides, I have a retro XP Pro SP2 machine for playing old windows games and it will play any windows game going back to Windows 95. XP Pro SP 3 changed all that and killed over 80% of program and game compatibility and about 60% of hardware compatibility. Again, F**K Microsoft! I am over Microsoft and long over Apple!

Isn't this time specific? IIRC Longbows only unlock after a certain year

Low Period era, as english, got Wales as rebel, they have 3 longbow, used to make them until recent patch changed base unit prodection, not listed, even decades later and after the year 1205, still doesnt show longbow, it seem the patch took them away, now as unupgradeable.

Is it possible to play multiplayer games? If yes, how?
Medieval Totalw War 1 in my opinion is the very best game of the series, graphic may be non the best but is so well balanced and playable.... Some 20 years ago i played a lot multiplayer battles, 3 vs 3. It was just great: MTW 2? Did not like it, much better the 1.
Is it possible to play multiplayer battles here on steam? Do you knoe if there are people who play MTW 1 multiplayer battles?

Can anyone help with the glitch that crashes the game when there are too many armies in the battle. If anyone has some info on a patch that would be sweet. If the suggestion is a tweak of game graphics, would you please tell me how to do that

When I bought this game on Steam a few years ago it kept on crashing after an hour and I refunded it.

But I read a comment recently that said if you set your battlemap and campaign map resolution the same as your desktop resolution, it would solve crashing - this wasn't an option a few years ago as it maxed out pretty low with 4:3 aspect ratio, but it is possible to set it at modern resolutions now

Anyway, I bought this game again and tried it out and had no crashes over a long campaign... This was on the largest units setting and I fought off the mongol horde when they spawned (so, a super big battle)

Yeah, I fear that we can't expect any more ambitious patches compared to what we are getting right now at least with this edition of the game. The only thing that could make further changes and improvements to the game is an eventual future remaster version of this game, which won't happen anytime soon to say the least, but maybe it could in a distant future though but it will take years for sure to happen since most people can still run it on modern PCs at the moment being.
