Fortunately for me, my Windows 10 desktop does not believe in Sega Support.
Yes, if I were you I would seek a refund.
Are you running on Intel HD graphics by any chance?
I'm running whatever graphics my HP laptop came with. I was hoping that since steam was the latest, greatest thing since sliced bread it could care enough to have games that were compatible with operating systems... This is really disappointing.
And Sega says it's not their fault, it worked whent they released it....
I would certainly seek a refund if I were you. If Sega Suppport have told you that the game doesn't work on Windows 10, then you have a pretty good case for a refund. Good luck.
I really don't know what the problem is but it is not Windows 10 (at least, not primarily). People with Intel HD Graphics and/or using HDMI connections to either TV or monitor appear to be the ones having problems.
Unfortunately, I am not particularly knowledgeable about hardware because I really would love to help you guys get the game up and running.
Trying for a refund seems to be your best bet at this point and I am sorry that I cannot be of more help.
As an afrterthought, have you guys tried running the game with Windows 8 compatibilty?
Go to the Steam>SteamApps>common>Total War Medieval 1 Gold folder.
Find the Medieval_TW.exe > right click on it > choose properties>compatibilty and then set compatibilty to Windows 8.
When that is done, right click on the .exe again and choose create shortcut. Move the shortcut to the desktop and try to run the game from the shortcut.
I cannot guarantee that will help. It may be as useless as starting the game through Steam but it might be worth trying.
Fianlly, do you guys have Windows Media Player installed? The readme file in the Medieval folder says Windows Media Player 6.4 or higher is required for the game to work. There is a link in the readme file to the Microsoft site so that it can be downloaded.
I tried that, unfortunately it did not work. I shall keep the game and pray for an update- I refuse to lose hope.
