Total War GFX Engine - Graphics card not supported
Hi,

Has anyone run in this/know a way to get around this error?

I'm running Windows 8.1 and a GTX 980 on latest drivers.

Yeah, try a different graphics mode.
I'm afraid I don't quite understand what you mean by 'graphics mode'

When you go to video, you can choose betwen primary diplay driver, your graphics card and software mode. Try different ones and different resolutions.
Still no luck. Don't have the options to change the modes; contacted Sega Support and now to the point of 'Reinstall DirectX' which is impossible to do in Windows 8.1 -sigh-

Look around in the menu. You will always have the option to play in software mode.
The game wouldn't even boot so got a refund in the end :)

You game will run! You just have to play with the video card settings in game until you get one that works. Try software mode, try hardware mode, try whatever mode.

How is it not starting? You can change the settings by modifying them manually.

Where do I change the Settings exactly? I'm not that experienced. I hope it's not ingame because the game crashes on starttup and displays this Error message.

There's an ini file.
Well I'm not able to find it. Do you know the exact location of the file?

I have the same issue on a crappy Windows Vista laptop, can't get to any settings as the game boots in to a "Total War Launcher" and when you click play it tells you unsupported graphics card. I would put it down to the weak graphics capabilities of the laptop if it were not for the fact that it runs Rome (1) Total War just fine.

rome runs perfectly on mine too, because it uses real 3D models.
