Windows 10, WAS working now shog_cpp

I had this game ages ago on disc but it stopped working when I went to Win10. When they brought it out ages later on Steam I thought the £6.99 was worth a gamble so I bought it and it worked! So happy.
But, it doesn't work any more!
I've almost completed it but when I end my turn where I've saved it runs through some ninja videos then crashes after the videos have ended, the 'shog_cpp' error (same I used to get on the old disc).
Anyone else get this problem? Is there a fix?

I just had a recent update and it was fine, but after the update Its started crashing in the middle of the action some times during a video sometimes after a turn ahs ended.

I think a recent update may have broken a file or something

just wantesd to confirm that i tried a frehs new play though and the game again crashes on cut scenes this time when an emmisary came to talk. Instread of crashing during the strategic screen

Try to validate game files through steam. Maybe update wasn't completely done. My Shogun on Windows 10 works great.

Same issue here. I validated the game, and it states that 3 files were not validated and will reaqurire the files. Still crashes. I even uninstalled and reinstalled shogun and steam. no go still crashes. I did have 248 hrs put in while using win 10. now it just does not work after 5 to 10 mins of playing.

I only get a error in shog_cpp when I exit the game else it plays fine in windows 10 I am sure its more windows 10 fault than this game. It runs flawlessly on windows 7.

It's not a genuine Win10 problem. I tested the PC on 2 Win10 PCs (same OS, same version): A 4-core desktop with 8 GB RAM and an nVidia card, and a 2-core laptop with 8 GB RAM and an Intel card. No problem on the desktop at 800x600 and in software mode, the shog_cpp error on exit on the laptop at 800x600 and in both primary graphics driver and Intel card mode. Hangs when starting a new game in software mode or in other resolutions on the laptop (have to stop the game using the task manager), Also doesn't work on the desktop at other resolutions and in other grahics modes.
There are certainly incompatibilities between the game and some components of newer PC's, and from reading the post on this forum, it looks like at least some of the problems were introduced only recently.
Are there any plans to fix this problem at all?

That happen the same to me, all I do was reinstall the video card drivers, reboot, and work now...if still dont work uninstall and then go to steam games on ur C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War Shogun 1 Gold, and delete folder Total War Shogun 1 Gold dont forgot backup ur folder game of savegames

Exactly the same as me. Win7 no problem. Win10 ok on exit until today; now it only gets to the loading screen before crashing with that "shog_cpp stopped working" error that always seems to show up. Sadly I think it's time to give up on this game. Trouble is the newer one is crap.

try running compatibility mode then? maybe its something to do less /w windows 10, & more dx 10, 11, 12?

game runs for me on both windows 10 & vista laptops i own. havent tried w7 yet.

if you own a copy of windows 7 you could always run virtuabox? windows visata, xp, not so easy to do. ;)
