why the hell not?

Cause you can only play as Victor Vran.
GYMMER Sep 17, 2016 @ 11:34am
My girlfriend complained about that too ("where is the female character for me???"). They could simply allow for a different outfit... or some other character

They could introduce 'Victoria Vran' would be nice... ;)

This is like asking as if you can play a female charakter in Rambo. Your name, gender and background is fix.
HiImTye Sep 17, 2016 @ 4:04pm
it's called role playing, you assume the role of a character, and play it. men played the roles of women for centuries. also, they didn't ♥♥♥♥♥ about it.

Don't take this thread where I'll have to lock it or worse, as several threads on this topic have gone before ;-)

Story or not, in hindsight, we should have included female playable characters.
It's a lesson we have learned. I hope we live to make Victor Vran II and correct this!

"Victoria Vran" doesn't have the proper sound to the name tho :trolol:

Anyway, looking forward to VV2!

I hate when I go to the theatres to watch a movie about a dude shooting things, and there's no alternate female character. the worst.

nothing says inclusivity to women like just repackaging the same ♥♥♥♥ and adding pink ribbons to it.

I know that this may be over the line, but damn... if I ever see a Victoria Vran then I am going to kill a ton of kittens if the next Tomb Raider won't have a playable Lars Croft.

There is nothing wrong in games to have only one playable gender. If nothing else, it gives the game more personality.
This is a story about a male monster hunter. That's it.
A game doesn't have to have equal appeal to both genders. There are games that boys like more and then there are games that girls like more and then there are games that are qually likeable by both. There's nothing wrong in that.

If you are a boy or a girl and don't like a game for whatever reason (gender included), then don't play it, but don't demand from it's creators to bend and shape their vision to fit yours. It's their game and it's their desired desing.

There are enough games to always find something you like, you don't have to convert everything to YOUR liking. Not everyone likes what you like so if something looks bad for you, it may look perfect for another. Why would you be above everyone else to demand to be shaped into your liking.

I don't like romance comedies, but I don't go over the internet to whine and demand the directors to change the movie to be more serious or more dramatic. I simply don't watch it and move on to something I enjoy. I don't lose anything and those who enjoy the movie can peacefully watch even if I don't like it.
I don't like house music, but you don't see me whining and demanding from singers and composers to change their music styles because I don't like their music. I simply ignore that style and move on to listen to what I enjoy and everyone else who enjoys house music can enjoy it, even if I don't like that style.

Why can't whining gamers see this? A game is what the creators make it. If you don't like it, don't buy it and ignore it. You won't die if this game doesn't have a female character.

@gymmer: If you girlfriend doesn't like that Victor Vran doesn't include a female character then don't force her to play. Find something she might like. There are plenty of games similar to Victor Vran that have also female characters. Go try Diablo, Torchlight or Path of Exile.

if they create an entirely different character with an entirely different story line, then that is one thing, but just repackaging the same character with a prettier outfit is insulting to women, not inclusive.

I would like to suggest trying out Grim Dawn and Sacred 2. both of those games you choose either a male or female character. they are similar to this game in many ways, yet very different. I of course enjoy Victor Vran and I hope for a sequel. I have made suggestions for the Victoria Vran, female character, who would be Victor Vran's sister or even daughter, girlfriend or wife might work too. I almost always play female character when given the option, though I am a male in real life. +1 for a female Vran in the sequel. Victor Vran is a great game. :hunterhat:

Victor's sister, wife or daughter, who also sold her soul to gain demonic powers, and also happens to be a demon/vampire hunter.
the difference between Victor Vran and those other games is that Victor's story is personal, while those characters are generic.

Jesus, guys, I just meant like a skin or something (especially for multiplayer).

I mean in the multiplayer Tomb Raider games you can play as characters other than Lara Croft.

For ♥♥♥♥'s sake I wasn't asking for the game to be retooled and turned into something else, you are all going off the rails over NOTHING
