Getting black screen when starting new game

Just purchased this today. When I first launch it, I can see the options screen and can navigate it changing the settings. When I start a new game, the screen goes black. I can still hear the music but the screen stays black. I left it sitting for a few minutes and nothing changed. I'm trying to use the rift but I can switch to the vive if it's the preferred HMD.

Yeah, I had this problem too, found out if you start it outside of steam VR it works (ie start oculus home, go to steam and start crystal rift then launch Oculus rift in VR mode in other VR mode). Works fine now, although you won't have steam to fall back onto.

Thanks! That's definitely the problem. Running the game without starting SteamVR solved the issue. I appreciate the help!

Same happens to me, although I'm not able to run in 'other VR mode'. I'm using a DK2. Is this no longer supported? Works fine in steam VR mode in the menu.

Same problem here. Black Screen after starting the game in Rift Other VR Mode.
Tried starting the game first, without SteamVR, then Oculus Home.
Oculus is running in Direct Mode (showing the gameplay in a window on the monitor in addition to the Oculus Rift).

Same problem here, although I'm running on the unsupported Oculus Rift DK2. Doing the "in other VR mode" start works great for me as well.

I get the same problem with the VTC Vive if I switch off the motion controller support in the VR menu.

Are all OS Updates, GPU Updates installed and up to date for your system? Are you using an HMD or playing in 2D?

HTC Vive, GeForce 1070 with latest Windows 10 updates and drivers.

The issue is consistant that you cant use an xbox360 controller on the Vive as you just get a blank screen if you switch off motion controller support as I noted above.

Plus as the motion controllers stop responding after a while htis makes playing the game hard under VR with a Vive.
