Occupying Rome as non Catholic leads to stale conquest

Basically, I started a Byz. Change my faith to Hellenism. Conquered Rome and formed Roman Empire. Now the whole Europe hates me: they got infinitely ticking Antagonism modifier because I hold Rome. At first I though they were just mad about conquest but after a while I noticed they only hated me more and more even I was diplo hegemon improving relations with major nations. Realizing that I have no turning back because I converted 20% of population to Latin Hellenist. And my conquest sailed with only option to attack the Europe faster then they declare war on me. Also late game just sucks.
