1.4 is not ridiculous at al
I'm a bit fed up with this update and especially with people arguying all the time on the "daily tick" like it was was worst thing in the game while there are many gamebreaking new mechanics with it that are flooded in oblivions cause of people that spam all over the place on the same minor issue.

for example it's now almost impossible to play any non christian country without having a crusade coming for you. No matter how small you are, no matter if you are on an island lost in the sea they will come for you with all the majors wanting to destroy you.

That's maybe a bigger issue than just a daily tick instead of hourly. And there are so many other big issues with this update that makes it just impossible to play, but I guess most players enjoy playing Naple and stomp over anybody else on the map, so it's ok, the update is good for them.

I dunno. A deliberate bad design choice sounds worse to me than a balancing issue which will eventualy get fixed. Also I kind of assume that it may suck to play a nation which did not receive a flavour dlc polishing yet. They obviously focused on creation of a core engine with intention of filling it with content later. I stil think "daily tick" switch is the worst. :P
Having crusades that can be thrown at anybody even state of the size a stamp is really bad design choice, especially if you decide to look at the script and see how half baked the rules to declare a crusade are. Basically you can target anybody not christian now. wonderful.

Also I don't see bad design into just deciding to slow the number of action you do a day ... But actually balancing ... But you know, words today, doesn't mean what they are supposed to mean anymore, it's more how people feel than any logic.

That's not just balancing here.

I think the Crusades mechanic will be reworked in one of the upcoming patches or DLCs.

It would be a decent idea to add a progress bar like "Papal Wrath" (or something similar). This value would increase whenever a nation commits crimes against Christianity or holds Christian holy places. That way, Crusades would be limited significantly and realistically focused mostly on defense against the Ottomans and the Golden Horde.

Historically, there were only a handful of crusades after the EU5 start date (1337), as they became extremely rare events. You can pretty much count the major instances on one hand: the Cypriot crusade against Mamluk Alexandria (1365), campaigns against the Golden Horde, and anti-Ottoman expeditions like Nicopolis (1396) or Varna (1444). Implementing a system like "Papal Wrath" would perfectly reflect how scarce and situational Crusades became in this era.
Crusades were costy like hell and they wouldn't start one for a minor country like this, that's the main issue. The fact is I made no crimes at all against any Christian country, that's just the antagonism that makes sometime complete nonsense.

Basically I play in greece and juste try to survive there between the big powers of the region and in 1.3 it was fun, but in 1.4 naple attacks you on every game before you can do anything. On this game for some strange reason Naple decided to attack Venice instead of me and Argos ... Ok I take it. So I managed to get actually a few lands and voila, the rest of the game I just defended against Naple attacking me again and again but since I have the upper hand on sea, I just sink them before they could set a foot on land, so basically just defending.

But the game decided I was now the biggest threat in the region cause I had too many defensive wars and I have an antagonism of 64 with the pope that start a crusade cause ... Well he can do that on anybody. The very fun fact is, Naple is in the crusade against me, Naple that juste attacked the papal states and took half their territory last year in my game.
That's why i say it's not just balancing, it's bad design and instead of solving the issues they put more and more layer one on another, each layer more absurde than the other. In 1.3 crusades were more restricted, I don't know why they changed it to be used on anybody, but it makes the absurdity of antagonism surface even more. Now you can literally take a crusade in the face cause you stole a bunch of maps, that's so awesome.
