[EU5 1.4] Can’t find “Favor Heir” anymore? It moved, it’s not gone
If you play an elective theocracy (e.g. Bishopric Elective) and ended up in a regency with no eligible candidates, you may think you’re soft-locked: Favor Heir no longer shows up in the character right-click menu (not even greyed out), you can’t change succession law during a regency, and the new “Take the Throne” is red because your regent “isn’t an eligible heir”.

The fix: in 1.4, Favor Heir is no longer a character interaction. It’s now a country action.

Open Government → Country.
On the heir portrait card (next to the ruler), there’s a small Favor Heir button. Click it and pick your character from the list. Your regent can be picked too; the script explicitly allows it and moves him to the Clergy estate if needed.
Your character now appears as an eligible candidate under Bishopric Elective.
Right-click him → Take the Throne is now enabled (costs 3 Political Influence). Your regent becomes the new ruler.
