Hi there. I noticed some smaller cultures always dissapear, assimilated completelly, but it makes no sense that after 50 years of a game all the european jews have dissapeared. Same with native americans, many of the cultures that are assimilated quite earily exist till this day. Can this be patched?

It's true that smaller cultures disappear in this game, but to change that, Paradox would need to redo cultural assimilation math. Basically for now any culture without an independent country (vassals don't count because they have crazy debuff to assimilation and by that promoting said culture) is screwed over. Without independent country cultural influence and traditions stays very low, and that makes it super easy to assimilate said cultures. Even with a country that is generating those values, it's just a matter of time and how long you can keep your advisor on assimilation duty to get your culture as dominant in any location you want.

I don't like the current system either, because for now trying to create a multicultural empire is just a waste of time. If you keep many cultures in your country, your cultural influence will stay low, and you will not be able to be a cultural hegemon, so the current meta is to assimilate all and forget and get hegemony to assimilate even faster. Playing Borg is the way.

I tried to bring Polabian and Sorbian cultures back in eastern Germany after I took them over by Poland. It was just a waste of time because it was much easier to assimilate them as Polish culture, and creating vassals with those cultures to assimilate Germans into Polabs and Sorbs was impossible thanks to debuffs and AI accepting German cultures in vassal lands and never trying to assimilate them.

But to change all of that will be super hard, and knowing how Paradox handled the last few patches, they will screw this over even more and make it super hard and unintuitive.

Multicultural empires existed in history, I don't get this obsession with assimilate the AI has in every paradox game. I think they should redo this math at some point, it's just frustrating see cultures dissapear like that. That's cultural genodide, and as a person from a country that has been on the other end of this, I don't like it at all.
