The way warfare worked in WW2 is radically different from the Early Modern era. Politics, economics, and everything else too. I don't think it makes sense to try and force that scenario into the EU5 engine, especially when there is Hearts of Iron which is specifically designed to do it correctly from the ground up.
There's a really good one available on the Steam store.

Search for "Hearts of Iron 4".

Yeah that game is terrible!
I'd love a HOI5 with a full population system and more in-depth economy which included resource stockpiles so you don't just create things out of mostly nothing. Playing Germany and actually having to plan your war around resource acquisition would be interesting.

I think it's smart from a business perspective that Paradox keeps HoI their most casual title because WW2 is the most "casual history nerd" setting in many ways. But as a player, I agree with you. Heck, I'm the kind of guy who'd enjoy a WW1 game where the frontlines barely move, and the bulk of your job is logistics.

Most casual? I've mastered EU and CK but HOI is just too confusing

From everything I heard, it's the most simple game of the bunch by a margin, but that's a second hand opinion. Maybe you are mostly confused because it's different.

Ya based off of the feedback from EU5, a more simulation like HOI5 would probably get so much backlash Paradox would have to do a complete 180 within the month.

Though I do wonder what they're going to do with HOI5 because there isn't much they can really do at this point to make it anything other than HOI4 Remastered.

It's really not that hard to learn, though arguably most of Paradox's games aren't hard to learn, it's just at the beginning there are so many things you have to know it makes it seem complex. It also doesn't help if the UI or Tutorial aren't that great either.
