Economy is total randomness (1.3.11)
I try to pay attention to the markets, production efficiency, supply and demand and so on but I'm experiencing huge fluctuations in my income with no apparent cause. My monthly profit went from +30 to +18, then +5, then negative, then back to +18, then +5 again.

A random number pops up every month, and I'm just sitting here clueless.

Tax revenue in particular has practically evaporated. My burghers' income dropped from 30 ducats to 14 in a single month. My expenses stay the same, but my income is on a roller coaster.

Can you please help me figure out what's going on?
Am I missing something, or is it really just luck-based, as it seems?

You're going to have to narrow that down a lot, what country are you playing and what year is it, if it's near starting then thats just markets slowly adjusting to supply and will clear up after a year or two.

If you have a large economy of 1000+ ducats of income a month then that could straight up just be random fluctuations in trade or inputs because wool or cotton's price got boosted too high since cloth manufacturers switched to it.

Your burghers might have gone over the 150% left over cash threshold and demanded goods that immediately pushed them under the threshold and ceased that demand causing a demand expiration loop.

Theres is a lot going on in eu5 so you can't just say this without elaborating more on your situation.
Guessing it's your trades.
