Good drug names?
Good names for drugs? Being fond of the old Theme Hospital humour, I try to name my drug funny names that are still descriptive, and always two-word names. So far, I've come up with the following, with (hopefully) obvious indications:
"Pain-Proof"
"Migraine-Migrator"
"Allergy-Alleviator"
"Sleep-Sound"
"Wart-Ward"
"Gout-Goner"
"Rash-Rusher"
"Zit-Zapper"

How do you name your drugs?

Might just add:
"Seizure-Stopper"
"Reflux-Reliever"
"Cold-Crusher"

I just slam auto-name on and let the game do the work x3 Some of the names that the game throws out can be funny - the sexual health ones just make me giggle (Erection Ignite has got to be my favourite)

Naming your own medicine is fun for a while, after that it become annoying instead. There should be a function that you can name your medicine and the game save it into pool so it will randomize back later.

When naming, I think of "George's marvelous medicine" and all the whimsical names Roal Dahl came up with.

Here's the names I've been using or thinking of using:

Cough: Cough be off!
Cold: Sneaze Ease
Contracieptive: Baby Blocker
Antidepresant: Dopeumup, the positive pill, Smile in a jar, Allsmiles
Anihistamine: No-Blow, the hankercheif pill
Diabeaties: Dia-beater, sugar sucker
Ant asthma: Wheaze Ease
Hyperthyriodism: Thyriod Blaster
Sleap aid: Snoozeium, Zedaway, ZZZ, Snore more

And I don't know if this game has abortion pills but if it does I'd name them:
Contravesy sparkers. (Yes, I went there!)

I also like to come up with funny names for the company.
Mal Practise Medications
Illness Inc
Disfuction juction. (I did not come up with this one)
Old McDonald's Pharmaceuticals

It helps if you give a funny name to the company, the sort of name you'd find on the side of a wagon used by a traveling medicine show. Example...

Professor Cureall's Lighting Elixir.

I think you could do this with a mod by supplying your own drugnames.dat, then just hit enter to accept default when prompted.

I don't think this is possible, actually; AFAIK when you load a mod, it's loaded into the game for good, and you have to reload it to change anything.

You'd just have to do the work up front instead of defining your names during game play. It looks like the drugnames.data file specifies a pool of drug names for each type of drug you can create? Not quite as easy as you were thinking I guess but might still do the trick.

I name them names that shouldn't be given to little kids. I'm despicable.
lissa_981 Aug 31, 2015 @ 6:58am
I've been naming them by brancehes as if I was an old traveling salsman. So Cough Med's might be Amazing Tonic Water. But then I've been naming my company DrFeelGood soo... lol

I do similar to lissa_981 and tend to make mine sound like old time snake oil tonics. For example "Doc [whatever]'s Patented Pain Ease". Some other examples, some more creative than others.

Painkiller: Patented Pain Ease, Sore Soothing Tonic, Ache Removing Remedy.
Hypertension: Tension Tuner.
Contraceptive: No Heir Dare!
Warts: Sexual Healing.

I tend to call contraceptives Sweet Freedom ;-)
