I will push out an update to fix this early this week. :)
I went ahead and changed the setting that I mentioned in my earlier post, created a build and put it on my Mac. I tested it and the Cmd + Tab works great but unfortunately, bundled with this functionality is the menu bar and dock.
You're probably familiar with this, when you mouse over the top of the screen the menu bar pops down, when you mouse over the bottom, the dock pops up.
Now, Big Pharma supports edge-scrolling and while this might not be everyone's scroll method of choice, it's still relatively popular with some gamers. With the dock and menu bar activated, this becomes very distracting, as every time you try to scroll up or down, they pop out.
I've spent the best part of a day trying to find a solution to either:
- Disable the menu bar and dock while maintaining Cmd +Tab ability.
- Make the option toggleable, so players can choose which they prefer. Cmd + Tab plus menu and dock or none of the above.
Alas, after many failed attempts I have concluded it is impossible with the current way it is handled via the Unity engine. It is hard-coded (literally) into the game and I can only choose one way or the other.
After much contemplation, I've decided to leave the setting where it is (no menu bar, dock or Cmd + tab) as I think the distraction of the menu bar and dock may prove more annoying to more players. In other words, the lack of Cmd + tab may be the lesser of two evils.
It is an understatement to say that I am frustrated by the current situation. I am going to create a support request with Unity to see if they can improve matters.
I'm sorry there was not more I could do.
Hopefully there is some workaround or alternative you can find - it seems like the issue is one that all Unity Mac games have.
As an alternative, is there any way to have an in-game hotkey to Minimize the game? Or else an option to allow the Macbook F3 hotkey (which shows all your open windows - I forget the name of the feature) to work?
