Tienen steam como algo secundario
Neither launched the 5, nor the 4.
They have steam as something secondary.
lol, so these games are like that are they? can you not run the games at 1920 x 1080, or higher?
When I lost WMMA4, then got a snotty reply about it when I wrote something on the site, I decided I was never going to buy another title off the GDS site again. For me, a GDS title needs to be on Steam, and it needs to be on sale before I'll touch it. If that's never going to happen, I'll just spend my money on other games.
This is 2018. There's no reason why any developer should be inflicting that 1990's-era copy protection on us anymore. I imagine pirates must eat e-license protection for breakfast at this point anyway, so what is it protecting?
Plus like SamuriceX said... with GDS games newer often doesn't mean better. Just different. I've never seen any new release from them which is so much better than the previous version as to be worth AAA money. I don't know what 5 is like, but personally I wouldn't trade my copy of WMMA3 in for a copy of 4, and as a former owner of WMMA2 (that's the one with the belts as ratings, right?), I'm not convinced that WMMA2 isn't better than both of them.
I'd load up WMMA2 to check that theory, but of course I'm not able to play that anymore either...
It's not just one or two people who believe that way about the new releases. There are still a lot of people who play the 'Extreme Wrestling' games, which are about 15 years old and were the precursor to the TEW series that's now out. They just enjoy those games more than the new stuff.
Sorry for the rant but e-license is a peeve of mine. I've lost too many games because of weirdness, screwups, and outdated processes related to that thing.
I was gonna vent as well but I read your post and this sums it up perfectly.
I will not purchase 6 or any games from Greydog for these reasons. It screams scam.
Grey Dog also isn't the one selling WMMA3 on Steam. Someone bought the right to manage and sell it here. It's some kind of distributor deal, but GDS isn't really involved and that's probably true of their other games on here too. I doubt Grey Dog has any Steam presence whatsoever.
BTW, just went to their forums to confirm that WMMA5 is the last (it is), and saw that everything but the "general discussion" forum is now set to private. You can't even lurk and read strategy unless you're registered and logged in. They've also taken down a lot of their older games, like TEW2005 and things like that.
GDS has great games, but odd ideas regarding business practices and community interaction. It's almost a form of paranoia. I can't think of another gaming company which operates like Grey Dog except maybe Slitherine, and even Slitherine works closely with Steam and has promotions and such.
It's actually a wonderful community, and maybe that is because the - very basic - restriction keeps most of the clowns and idiots out of the forums.
FYI: they haven't taken down TEW2005. It's actually freeware and can be downloaded from the forum. And I fail to see what other games they've taken down...
