"Could not authenticate steam" error

Update: This error has come back, I do not have this problem anymore, if you do, feel free to ask in the comments.

Ever since yesterday (3/29/2015), every time I try to connect to any server (Official or community), it tells me that it could not authenticate steam and it then disconnects.


Steam restarts or computer restarts don't fix the problem and I couldn't find any fixes on the topic.

If anyone knows how to fix the issue, please help me in the comments below,

Do you play RoK over steam family sharing? If you do I got the same problem and there is only one solution you buy this game......

Yes I do. I wasn't sure if it was going to be able to run on my laptop before, so I shared the cost with my brother who has his own gaming pc.

This happened right when update 8 came out for me. Did it occur at the same time for you?

I don't know how it was before Alpha 8 because I got the game shared when the update came out and the lobby server were DDos so I can't really anwser you question

when you log in disconect if it does not load like it should, keep doing this untill it does took me 3 times..

If I were you, I would go onto the properties for reign of kings in the steam library and verify the integrity of your game files. If that doesn't work, I don't know then. Maybe uninstalling and reinstalling?

I had the issue today. What I did was restart steam, logged out completely from Steam and logged back in. Problem fixed. Will it also work for you? Idk. Is this the solution? Beats me. I'm just sharing how I fixed the issue. Hope it helps!
