Fastest Way to Gain Charcoal

Is there any trick to gather Charcoal fast?

Wander around and loot new players cook fires in the wild. Odds are the new players aren't using it yet.

Run smelters, and fire pits all damn day long use sticks for them save the logs. Secure them with a wall and crest and in a few hours have coal in the hundreds.

Hmm yep, just spamming fireplaces seems to do the trick.

Havent done any tests to support this but worth a try.

You can place 1000 wood in a fully upgraded fire/smelter and get around 55 charcoal immediately.

I know regular fires consume wood faster, but I'm not totally sure there is a direct conversion of wood to charcoal. The fire may simply "generate" a piece for every X seconds that it burns.

Generally, I try to get at least one fire going and burning as soon as I have a structure built, that way by the time I get the stone to upgrade to a smelter I already have a nice amount of charcoal. The fastest way to get some in a hurry is to just set up as many campfires as the server will allow and then go look for smelters/fires that are out sitting in the open.
