How do you make steel/ steel compound?

Upgrade the anvil station, then look at the mats its iron, oil, and coal. After you make it it smelts just like iron ingots 10 per ingot

Also sticks, and not jsut the campfire the forge itself makes coal basicly if it can burn sticks or wood and has output slot you can make coal, and the stick burning a godsend takes more but I pick them like crazy while hunting flax and what not now or cutting wood for other projects.
