Reign Of Kings

Reign Of Kings

It's time for a change Code Hatch!
So if you like reign of kings and want it to be something much greater please let this be known this was originally a rant I wrote on the heat release comments but now it's time to take it to discussions. before you start reading if you're a dev reading this don't let the beginning of this be the bad first impression it gets much better along the paragraphs this is a serious idea that I think could change this community completely. When put into perspective it just sounds like me asking for it to be free to play without compensation to those who once bought the game but this is a great idea if you think about it. I myself have bought this game but all I am asking for is a community.

Code Hatch I wish you guys would learn to finish a game rather than just tossing out more games. Rok used to have a huge player base of about 14k, now it's 30 on a good day. You need to stop giving up on your games. If you release a big update that is genuine and not lazy this game would be worth the price. Youtubers used to make videos on this when it was relevant now look what happened. It's almost like this game that came out in about 2012 but we don't talk about starforge do we? Heat literally costs as much as you would pay for a model on unity to add to your game starforge. Code hatch never added their own work on starforge but they did on reign of kings, when this game was at it's prime it had so much potential to be what rust was. Hopefully the game facepunch is making stands against what reign of kings could have been. But that doesn't mean Reign of kings can't become the game we have always wanted (a good medieval survival) You need to take a players point of view, Unfortunatly the devs didn't understand that ROK was something many people enjoyed. They gave up on it too quickly. Now at the state Rok is at it will never be the same. Once heat is gone who knows what their plan is. Code hatch has gave up on 2 games, how do you expect us to support heat the way we supported reign of kings? You guys will soon find out that throwing out rushed games will no longer work in your favor. The reputation of code hatch is destroyed, but because you started a new game called heat we can only imagine how little money reign of kings in of itself will make today.

Although I payed for this game already we need a community. Starforge in my mind was actually a good idea but obviously it wasn't finished and was completely removed from steam. but we will never forget the day you made it free. That was probably the best decision you have ever made, Now I don't mind paying for a game at all and I don't want a refund because I payed for the game and that's final. But what I do want is a change, Allow your game to be explored by a free to play player base. Your reputation must change, and if your game makes a community that would be the start of something new. Your game, Heat would get twice as much recognition and your rep would be questionable but it's somewhere to start, and if reign of kings becomes a big game hell I wouldn't mind of you added dlc's. Just don't milk it like payday did, Yikes. Also if you do take this comment as an idea to the revival of your game don't think twice this is seriously something that could make this community blow up. Crossout did it and the community is dead because they ♥♥♥♥ed up the compensation to their company by adding a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ pay to win aspect. You can be what all of these games were if you do it the right way.

If it becomes free to play people will obviously ask for refunds because they payed for the game once before it was f2p that was a problem for crossout until they rewarded the people who once bought the game. all you have to do is give the reign of kings community a reward for being a supporter. And no it doesn't have to be worth anything. Rust gave people early access boots for being an early supporter but that is just an example. You would need to give something much greater, something worth the 20 dollars they once spent, and when I say worth I don't mean worth money I mean the money they already spent. Now all of this is just an idea I seriously hope you guys become the reign of kings we WANTED! Turn this game around, this can be something so much greater It's time to start a community. I'm sure you guys are tired of this hate. I hope you guys become successful, this is just the idea of many. If this game become free to play I'm hoping to see you on the top rated games of the week because I can imagine that would happen as an outcome of it being free. come on code hatch! LETS TURN THIS AROUND!

Making RoK f2p would do absolutely nothing for the developers. None of the hate would go away and they would have to invest resources into something with no payout. Like how you mentioned Starforge. Maybe you remember how much that meant to you, but for 99% of people who have bought Codehatch's games it amounts to nothing.

The only thing that could save RoK in any way is it being sold to an worthy developer. However, the main problem with that is that no worthy developer would bother to buy this pile of garbage code with an already HUGE negative stigma attached to it. Even if it is sold to someone then it would take a hefty amount of time/work(and by extension: /money) to get anybody interested enough to buy the game again. So, who would be willing to throw money in the trash to save a game that would obviously never pay for itself? Any developer would see that it would just be a better idea to make their own RoK-style game and have a chance at profit rather than buying a raging dumpster fire.

The sooner everyone gives up hope that this specific game could be saved the sooner you can all move on and heal. Hell, maybe even invest that time pining over RoK into actually becoming a developer yourself and make a spiritual successor to RoK and cash in on this loyal-to-a-fault niche community yourself.

Tl;Dr- RoK is permanently comatosed and shows no sign of brain activity. Pull the plug and move on.

Yeah I completely agree with this honestly, codehatch has gone nowhere. Their newer game heat has gone to ♥♥♥♥ after reviews plummeted I honestly don't think they should have the ability to add their games on steam. Goodbye Reign of Kings.

The only problem with ROK was the rampant cheaters that were never punished and ruined the player base. This game needed anticheat but the developer said "nope, we're done here". Honestly it's a good game in it's current state. Finished, pretty much. It was the players that destroyed the game, mostly.

Oh and allowing modding would have made it 10x better.
