Orcs
So is it a common occurance that within about 90Mins of playing the Orcs lay constant seige to every Port in the starting areas and Patrol everywhere with insane numbers. Makes it nigh impossible to get or do anything without getting Game Over

yeah tbh both the empire ports (hagdrafen and dietersthafen, spelling) have been "abandoned" for all 40 hours of my gameplay caues the orcs raid them every 20 minutes. i recommend sailing west and setting up shop in the gulf where there are a ton of bretonnian ports. lots of quests and sea monsters to fight and less orcs.

but if you think orcs are annoying wait till you fight skavens who have 40 crew so you cant board them, they teleport so you cant run, and they attack with a giant bell that you cant dodge. and after that you can enjoy the enemies that mind control your crew and your crew starts killing each other.

game is fun but damn some of the enemies are had as hell to fight if there is more than 1 of them.

The game spawned a rather close Ork Port in the northern sea for my last 3 playthroughs. Luckily, after I managed to get west and tied up a few Bret ships to tag along (think they glitched when I saved them from a Nurgle fleet and they just followed me) it was pretty easy to wreck the port and break their stranglehold.

In my most recent playthrough the Dwarves have actually pushed up north pretty hard and just insta-wreck any Chaos or Ork ships they find. The only real threat left are the Skaven.

Its pretty nice to have such a fluid system in place. I personally like starting off outmatched, outnumbered, and outgunned, as it is customary for the Warhammer universe.

Don't get me wrong the idea of such a fluid system is a great concept and blends great with the Setting. However In the starting ship I can't Outrun, Escape or Evade or Combat the sheer number of Orc's that are now all over the starting area.
I have the distinct feeling this save is broken and unplayable as I'm super outmatched at every turn.

You can't outrun orc ships on Corsair? 0_o
I suggest to check your parking brakes.

The Orc ship's catapults have a very long range and do a lot of damage to the sails so even if your ship can theoretically outrun them, they will often disable you at a distance in a couple of hits and get to you anyway. I've managed to flee from orc fleets a couple of times but just barely.

When I say Sheer Numbers don't take that as an understatement They are literally everywhere so you try and Outrun a ship and end up which ever direction into a whole bunch of other ships

HoJu makes a valid point as well the range of alot of the bigger ships that are around can leave you sitting ducks

If you feel like it, send the devs the save game. They can have a look at the situation and see for themselves. Later on these situations can be fun, but too early they could discourage new players.
Maybe there need to be a set of timers for when and how strongly things start spawning - give people a grace period to figure things out and make some early cash.

I'd say A) you shouldn't be getting out run if you're top speed vs Orks into good wind. Zig-zag a little and those Cata's won't even touch you (If you STILL can't dodge them, get an Amber Wizard with the acorn spell asap and just insta-mend your sails).

B) Kite them into NPC fleets. No one said you had to be nice.

I spent most of my time fighting the Orcs or running and waiting for the empire's fleet to come. Managed to keep them at bay but I know if I leave the area it will be overrrun.

A.) If I Zig, More Orc Ships, Zag More Orc Ships. Like When I say they are everywhere. You need money and the ability to dock to get an Amber Wiz
B.) There are no Allied Fleets, Zlich, nada, nowt

This save has been fun in its own perverse way. I'm just going to retire it and Start a new one and hopefully not have Orcsimulator 2016 v2.0

It wouldn't be so bad if;

A: The Empire would actually put up a fight? Their fleets get wiped and thats the end of it. The Orks swarm in and the Empire - the single mightiest nation in the WFB universe calls it quits.

B: Ports weren't so weak. The small ports, it's fine. But the enormous fortified shipyards like Dietershafen should be a lot tougher. Instead a Hulk or two can sail up and burn it to the ground with no trouble.
I also think all ports should have 'crew' - representing the local soldiers and militia that would have something to say about the port being raided.
A third option; the largest and most important ports/shipyards should have a defending ship/fleet given their importance. Either that or, if attacked, it sounds the alarm and a defending fleet is 'summoned' a relatively short distance away and sails to the aid of the city.

Yea orcs are a major problem in my game too. Especially since the orc ports are invisible?!! Probably bug but they are taking over the entire map! Im killing many of their ships but the invisible ports are terrible!! I cant push the zone into neutral because even if I kill all the orc ships in a zone it will still say lightly patrolling by orcs!! probably because of port.
