Complexity, Controls?
My daughter is learning to play games early. She is trying Minecraft and Slime Rancher, but I was thinking that a 2D game might be a better start for her. How complex are the controls and gameplay for this game?

Not complex at all and the graphics are average. If you computer is slow this game will definetly lag. If you play on easy mode all you do if cast with the mouse and catch a small fish so you can get a medium fish then a large fish. Its not complex and I think it is about 7+

Ive been watching and tested it on a friends so i didnt have to pay. The controls are definitely easier than Minecraft and i love Slime Rancher but its very hard to control after playing other games for prolonged periods. This game is 2d very nice, has 1 song but very soothing. There is a splash of blood if a fish eats a fish while you reel in but other than that very simple very nice to play when mad. Like justin said if you have a decent graphics crd it might lag a little but if you know anything a 750 TI should run it exceptionally well and if you run Slime Rancher super smoothly this will be atleast 60FPS.
All in all i recommend this game if your daughter is older than 5-7 or you dont care about bood and you can help her if shee needs
Hope this helps!

Hardware is not an issue (i5-4670, GTX 970, ultrawide, yadda yadda). My daughter is only 2 1/2 but already had WASD/mouse use down for Minecraft (she has a separate tenkeyless keyboard and micro mouse). I was just looking for another Steam game for her because "me play daddy putur?"

I am a little concerned about the blood, but it doesn't mean I won't pick it up. Thanks for the reco. :)

Should I make an option to disable blood?

I think some graphics options in general would be nice. Resolution, full screen/windowed, blood on/off etc

Disabling the blood when a fish chomps on smaller fish would be nice, but not completely necessary. Perhaps a toggle in the menu?

As BardzBeast said, a resolution option would also be nice if possible. I play on an LG 34" ultrawide (2560 x 1080). Hitting Alt+Enter does stretch to fullscreen, but I still get the black bars on the sides.

Also, my daughter loves the game. She likes to imitate the fish chomp sound!

Thanks!

Seems like this would be a great game for children, especially with the blood-toggle (maybe a specific "age-friendly" button for parents?) Also would be very helpful if there were more documentation, so when kids get stuck (not me because y'know.. of course, i never get stuck or lost or.. *cough* erm.. surely not!) they can ask a parent to help, and the parent would be as lost as they are. :D. (LOVE the game, btw. It's very addictive!)

I would not worry about the "blood" splash in this game. It's so mild that many would not notice it. I had to go look back again to notice it cause it was mentioned here. I would say a very very child friendly game. Teaches motor skills, there is a little physics on the casting part.

Don't worry mate, your kiddie will graduate to CS GO in a few years and learn to swear in fluent Russian. This game is pretty safe. :D
