It really depends on a few things. Driving style, Map choice, Preparation, and the "Line" you run during your stunt event. The Heavy class is best class for stunting in my opinion. Red Industrial Truck, Snow Plow, and Tank is best for stunting in Canyuns. Out of the three, Red Industrial Truck takes it. It's probably a toss up between Tank, and Snow Plow. The Tank works with the terrain flawlessly, and has a rigid suspension; so not much recoil when landing. It has just enough off everything to be the best, but it lacks speed, hang time, and NOS life cycle compared to Industrial Truck or Plow. The Snow Plow needs someone that can master it in the Canyuns. It's very fast, heavy, and gets a lot of air. Because the Canyuns is a small map, everything is closer, so you find yourself dialing it back a decent amount in Stunt events. The Red Industrial Truck is also fast, gets a lot of air, but is easier to control in the Canyuns over Snow Plow. The Tank is my vehicle of choice. I am an IOS player, so my opinions are based on the IOS version.
It ultimately boils down to what ever fits you best, and how skilled you are with that particular event and vehicle. Knowing how to generate a high score from a stunt combination is only a small part. It's all the extras that really add up. Like the execution of your jump, and landing along with the amount of preparation that you did before going into the stunt. Maybe getting a drift going, or keeping your stunt multiplier at 5x before going into a stunt could help generate a higher score. Hope this helps.
300k is not possible from a normal download in any map, no matter what vehicle they have. 186k is a good respectable stunt score. You need at least 2-3 times more speed to hit those scores though. Air time, stunts, and drifting make up stunt scores. Even stretching really far to say that if a player is an expert in that map, and has prepared, connected 3-4 stunts or more, and had a perfect run, they might hit +/- 230kish. Anything above that doesn't seem plausible.
Just to kill my curiosity, do you remember which vehicle the person was using?
My family owns a Porsche dealer in the area that I live in. They have a few race cars sitting on their show room floor. I'm not sure of the model numbers, but one is a retired racer, and the other is his current race car. There is a mural on the shop wall of him racing in quite a few different events. The mural is life size, and covers 1 whole wall.
There are so many variables as to how the scoring works. Try to pay close attention to the actual stunt as it's happening. A lot of times you don't need to follow through with a specific stunt, because you get the bonus a little over half way through on occasions. Then you can quickly move into another stunt, potentially adding another 3-4k when you land. If you follow through with a stunt that you already got a bonus for, then the only things adding a higher number to the score are the rest of your air time, and the way you land. 2-3 seconds of air time is enough for 2 back flips in some situations. It sounds like a perfect storm would need happen in some of these examples, but if you practice something long enough, it eventually becomes second nature.
