The Debut 16 Bundle by Indie Royale
Build a Greenlight Bundle 8 by Groupees
Also lots of people have been saying this in delaying keys, so is there a webpage or anything that states this? I'm just curious to read it or if it's just an excuse honestly.
This isn't your fault, but I was curious because you seem like a nice guy but I've never heard of these key resellers that resell non AAA games...
I would honestly love to read articles about it or the data.
If bundles are so bad for indie developers, then why do they participate in them?
While I understand the whole problem of key resellers and SteamGifts for indie devs (it's something I'm worried about, as someone who wants to get into indie development, just looking at people like Luke 10:17-20 over there is scaring me), a deal was a deal and we did purchase the bundle with the belief that we would get a free Steam key upon release.
You don't understand the dev's post correctly.
The keys will be distributed via Desura. The bundles should have given out Desura keys. (Groupees did. Indie Royale always does because it's tied to Desura anyway. I don't know much about PlayInjector.) Activate the game on Desura. After Steam keys have been distributed, hover over the game on your Desura Collection page and click the Keys button to display your Steam key.
If you put yourself in a bundle, be prepared for those ♥♥♥♥♥♥ consequences. But i can't feel sorry for someone who does put themselves into a bunch of bundles and then claim that they are not seeing any money from the resellers. Realistically...they OWN the keys and they paid for them, so the developer got paid...even if it is just a small fraction of what their game is worth.
If i look back, i own three copies of this game through 3 different bundles...i paid for 3 copies, and i'm going to want 3 steam keys. Of those three keys, i will give them out as giveaways on my Twitch or to friends. I'm sorry it happened this way, but in the end...i want what i paid for. Had they only been in one bundle, then i would only have one personal key to use.
I see it kind of similar to someone who sleeps around to get to the top of their music career, and once they are at the top they look back and say: "I didn't realize what i was doing with all the coke and sex...i'm a victim." You put yourself in that situation to achieve what you want...now that you are at the top, you can't look back and blame everyone for what got you in the industry in the first place. You chose to go that route, because you had little faith in yourself.
I'm excited to play your game, i don't use Desura, so i always wait until i have a Steam Key.
The keys should be distributed via the sites who sold the game pre-release.
In other words, like Laughing Man said, each copy (bought from whomever) should yield one Steam key. If they are distributed via Desura, it means people like myself (and Laughing Man) will in fact not receive all of the keys we are owed.
The seems like an obvious thing.
