Panzer Elite aren't very elite?

I've struggled with this force in the Ardennes so far, they don't seem to get anything very good for the bulk of the game; Marders and Stug's seem to be about as good as it gets, at least I'm normally chased off the map before anything arrives that can counter US Shermans and TD's. Even the workhorse Pz IV and Panthers don't seem to be available to them? Surelly the Panzer Elite is kind of representing the SS or Panzer Lehr Divs? In which case shouldn't King Tigers and Panthers be available to them earlier - I seem to do better with the routine German faction.
I've also caned the Panzer Elite a couple of times recently with the US and the Brits, in the Ardennes and on that excellent Sword beach map. These were my quickest victories yet too...

On a more serious note, I main PE and to be honest I prefer them over the Wehrmacht, as well as the Canadians both over the Americans and British since they're a nice little mix of both, I'm really in it for the 17 pounders they get, those things are nice to have around in Comp Stomps.

Anyways, the PE are a vehicle based faction so yeah... and I find it most effective to just spam panzergrenadiers and equip them all with double MG42s and a single shreck on each squad, fully upgraded these 4 man squads kick all sorts of ass, just make sure to rush for the ammo upgrade at the HQ and get the Logistik Kompanie for the Ammo half-track, then just simply arm them from there, I also make sure to get at least a battery of 3 mortars.

If you're interested you could add me so I can show you a thing or two about them, I also enjoy using the Hummels and Tank Destroyers their doctrines provide, Luftwaffe... not as much but eh, it's not for everybody.

Guess I need to vary my strategy then. That's given me a challenge !

If infantry is troupling you go for increase squad sizes and use assault grens, also panzer IV's in lock down + offensive vet are firing almost semi-auto

As for PE vet, there was a guide on cohreplays that specified infantry vet should go as offensive offensive defensive and defensive offensive offensive for tanks, of course those are the standard types, I get all offensive on tanks that aren't put up front like hummels and mortar half-tracks as well as tank destroyers. All defensive on MP44 Panzergrenadiers.

It's probably just me learning the ropes. The other night I got well spanked by the yanks twice and went to bed in a right old huff !! Due to my ♥♥♥♥-ups I found myself trying to fight off Shermans and TD's with just naffing Marders and AT guns. As we know the enemy tanks have radar and even if I got off the first shot it didn't help. Toasted.
Still doesn't seem right though - Panzer ELITE and the best tank, the only tank, they can recruit is the Mk. IV ??

As well as doctrine tanks and a Panther Battlegroup after you research everything from all your buildings. If you want something more beefier I suggest you go either Scorched Earth or Tank Hunter as you get a Tiger in Scorched Earth and Jagdpanthers from Tank Hunter.

But yeah, generally I suggest you just spam Panzergrenadiers with Shrecks on em.
