so i read the news about pirhana games bought out...

the buyout happened a while ago, right? if anything is a bad sign it's that clans did poorly and pgi subsequently laid off a ton of staff

ya but that also means the new company decides not to put more money into the franchise and hence no more mwo 2.0
Clans should have been an expansion for MW5. Probably I will get it at some point, but MW5 with all the DLC and mods is a more interesting proposition.

There never was and isn't any plans for mwo 2
There was never a MWO2, there was talks of changing the engine effectively changing the game but that stopped like 4 years ago.

There were talks about a new PVP MW game just a few years ago. But thats all. Just talks. I think it would have required Clans succeeding at least.

I think the issue was the opposite. It should have been named Mechwarrior 6. Tons of people thought its just a way too expensive expansion. Although, maybe a shorter cheaper expansion would've sold just fine.

In any case, they wanted to make a new game. And I think they failed its marketing badly.

TDIL that clans was a separate game....

Well there we go. One more informed. It was an ok game, but it had the same issues Mercs had. Enemies are the same after a while. Just mass to shoot. Missions, story, cinematics etc were great, like in Mercs DLCs, but otherwise pretty much the same but handcrafted instead of procedural.

Overall I consider it better than Mercs, which is a hot take since people seem to love that one. I just cant enjoy the endless farming of the exact same missions in mercs. Though one could argue that happens to some extent in Clans too.

Clans might have a chance to improve if they fix it while releasing DLCs, like what happened to Mercs, but it depends how much they're putting effort to Clans now.

The game should not be created from a mech's point of view. It should start with a pilot and his mech suit. Sort of like a rocket man or suited augmented human and the mech is an extension of the rocket man as more armor and fire power.

The game should include elements that are not of these mechs but rather other mecha, including tanks, gun turrets and other mecha armored vehicles and maybe even armored fliers etc. The actual mechs in this current game should be the pinnacle of the war machine and the new mechs are the continuation of it, without erasing the past elements of the whole scheme of things.

This is how the game advances IMO.

Right now, the multiplayer aspect still has no other elements. You spend time trying to join a game, then die and do what? Watch, or go join another game and wait some more.

In my mind if your lose your mech you should be able to exit it and even upon death of suited human, you should be able to re spawn in lessor elements of the game just to add these elements to the game and keep it interesting for the player and give that player more immersion into the size of the mech and why it is the pinnacle and also give dead players something to do besides going to join another game and wait some more.

Re spawns of the pilot could be limited and the game end conditions can still be whatever is designed as the end objective.

If you look at the evolution of PvP FPS video games it went from just being the shooter to jumping into and out of another vehicle.

Mech warrior multiplayer PvP is the opposite. You are in the vehicle always and it seems to omit every other mecha from. Which is why it now has a feeling of stagnation. As it doesn't seem to know where to go?

its based on a table top experience

So if they don't do that we don't do that

If we exclude multiple points that are either non-cannon or pretty much non-cannon (LAMs anyone?) you just described MechWarrior: Living Legends.

That old series of games is called "Mech Assault". It is also based on Battletech, but it's not Mechwarrior. In Mechwarrior you stay inside the mech in Mech Assault you get out like Titanfall.....It would not be Mechwarrior if you change it.

The key word here is
"OLD"

Mech warrior is how "OLD" now?
"It would not be Mechwarrior if you change it."

???

It's not a bible, It's a video game?

Are people going to worship it?
For EVER?
How about making your own universe?
Why must you try to change things that already exist?
Create something new for once in your life.
Mechwarrior doesn't have to go away just because one person wants it to be more like other games that already exist as well.

Only one part of your comment makes sense..

"Create something NEW for once in your life."
