Beam laser skills
Does taking the cooldown or laser duration skills do anything for beam lasers?

100% on no benefit for cooldown. Not sure on the laser duration? Probably same...

I new to them but there are a few clan mechs that get +1 laser HSL so can you have 3 without a penalty. There arent beam specific bonuses so +1 HSL and any heat/range bonuses seem to be what you should shoot for.

I am still testing it and haven't taken it to a live match yet but I was able to fit 3 beams and a H-Gauss 40 on the Orion IIC ON1 which is some pretty nasty damage under 700 meters.

What skills? All you do with beam lasers is stand in the open fire until you shut down and die because of overheating there terrible to use as you allow your self to be to exposed and you take to much damage with there use.

I concur this is a good excuse to get an orion, although I probably will bring normal gauss bc I dont like the screenshake of H-Gauss

For beam lasers and your skill node, you want Heat Gen, Range, Cool run, and Heat containment. Those are the only skill nodes that will affect Beams.

This reminded me, If Im not mistaken, flamer ventilation works with beam lasers

I don't think it does. The skill description is "Increase the speed at which ramped heat dissipates" which should apply, but the actual value change specifies flamer. Anyone know of a testing video or something on this? Ramped heat dissipation isn't actual a value that is listed on the weapons (cause the devs hate us).

Also, why the hell do beam lasers have a projectile speed?

Probably because it was quickly ported over as a "Clan RAC Equivalent", but then swapped for a really long range flamer that looks like a laser.

Or at least, that's the minimum effort solution I'd imagine took place.

I asked around, Flamer ventilation does apply to beam lasers. Beam Lasers are a reskinned flamer, hence why shooting one beam laser increases the ramp up for all beam lasers equipped. As for the projectile speed? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Can't find a beam laser mech ideal for a ghost heat build. Orion is engine locked and could only carry 3 because of weight.

I did discover a Dragon model that can shred with 4 X-Pulse which is IS beam but lets be honest, it's not as satisfying as the solid beam.
There was a kodiak that I could fit 4 on along with a large ballistic, I didn't care for it but you might try that. I dont remember the variant name but it got + 1 energy hsl as a quirk.

Can confirm. I tested with a friend and the skills did have an effect. Thanks for checking that is actually a pretty major bonus for only 2 skill points.
